This role balances two core priorities:

  1. Communications: developing strategy and implementing day-to-day tactics across newsletters, social media, events, and external messaging.
  2. Fundraising & Development: supporting WIA’s financial sustainability by leading donor engagement activities, fundraising campaigns, grant coordination, and CRM management.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized and self-motivated strategic thinker, an excellent writer with strong attention to detail, and someone who thrives at building relationships with donors and partners. This role reports to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities

Communications

  • Develop and execute an integrated communications plan and content calendar aligned with WIA’s program and fundraising goals.
  • Write, design, and publish WIA’s newsletters in Mailchimp and manage subscriber data.
  • Run WIA’s social media presence (Instagram, LinkedIn) and collaborate with design partners on branded materials.
  • Manage and collaborate with WIA’s digital marketing agency.
  • Support communications around major WIA events (Global Ignite, Empower Hour, convenings).
  • Serve as the “keeper of the WIA brand,” ensuring all messaging follows WIA’s Style Guide.
  • Plan and coordinate WIA’s Global Ignite and Empower Hour sessions, including speaker outreach, logistics, promotions, facilitation, and follow-up.

Fundraising & Development

  • Partner with the Executive Director to design and implement three annual fundraising campaigns, including campaign messaging, donor communications, and progress tracking.
  • Maintain and regularly update WIA’s donor CRM with donor data, gifts, acknowledgments, and communication history.
  • Support donor stewardship by drafting thank-you notes, impact updates, and personalized donor communications.
  • Coordinate with WIA’s when we work with outside grant writers, providing timely materials and organizational content, and track proposals and reporting deadlines.
  • Conduct donor research and help identify prospective major donors, corporate partners, and foundations.
  • Assist in planning donor engagement events and virtual gatherings that strengthen relationships and grow the donor base.
  • Monitor campaign performance, producing reports to analyze effectiveness and inform future strategy.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of prior experience in nonprofit or impact-driven organizations, with demonstrated success in both communications and fundraising/development.
  • 2–3 years of marketing or donor communications writing experience, with the ability to craft compelling messages that inspire engagement and giving.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship strategies, or annual giving initiatives.
  • Experience managing and maintaining donor CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Bloomerang, or similar), including data entry, acknowledgments, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with grant writing or coordination, including providing content for proposals and managing deadlines.
  • Skilled in using newsletter platforms (ideally Mailchimp) and managing segmented audiences.
  • Experience running social media campaigns and developing digital engagement strategies.
  • Strong design eye with experience using tools like Canva; ability to collaborate effectively with graphic designers.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Passion for WIA’s mission and a collaborative, relationship-oriented approach to working with donors, partners, and colleagues.

Benefits
