Location: Bay Area, DC Area: Hybrid, candidate must be able to work from their local office 3 times a week.
Salary Range: $85-90K for Bay Area, depending on experience and location (range adjusted for location)

Purpose
The Digital Strategist will drive Dream.Org’s digital web strategy and presence, ensuring our public-facing platforms remain current, effective, and aligned with our mission. This role is responsible for managing our website infrastructure, content, and analytics; supporting paid media and list acquisition strategies; and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of digital tools and storytelling. The Digital Strategist will help build a dynamic and effective web ecosystem that informs, activates, and grows our community.
Responsibilities
Web Strategy & Management
- Maintain Dream.Org websites: ensure performance, plugin functionality, cross-browser/device compatibility, and digital security (in coordination with Linea Creative and external developers).
- Oversee domain ownership, DNS records, and renewal protocols, ensuring protections are in place.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and lead platform optimizations with internal stakeholders and contractors.
- Develop wireframes and visual layouts for new and existing pages, working with internal teams and external partners for design and build execution.
- Own website content calendar and execution: ensure web presence reflects active campaigns, organizational wins, and SEO strategies.
Website Performance & Analytics
- Monitor website traffic, user engagement, and conversion metrics through GA4, Google Tag Manager, and Google Search Console.
- Implement SEO best practices and identify growth areas through digital performance data.
- Report on key performance trends and recommend changes that improve user experience, discoverability, and conversion outcomes.
Paid Media & List Acquisition
- Collaborate with the Director of Digital Engagement and external partners to coordinate list acquisition planning and execution.
- Manage or support ad placements through platforms such as Meta Business Manager, LinkedIn Ad Manager, TikTok Ads, and Google Ads (including ad grants).
- Track performance of list acquisition strategies and make data-informed adjustments.
Content Coordination & Cross-Department Collaboration
- Support cross-departmental collaboration by participating in planning meetings, ensuring consistency between digital content and broader engagement strategies.
- Coordinate with organizing, membership, and development teams to align content and user journeys across platforms.
Platform and Tool Management
- Maintain familiarity and help troubleshoot digital tools including WordPress, Storied, ActionKit, Bitly, Google Suite, and others.
- Liaise with external developers and designers to execute technical projects like new page builds or interactive features.
- Provide support for team tools and help optimize the tech stack supporting digital growth and retention.
Digital Fundraising
- Partner with the Director of Digital Engagement to develop and execute digital fundraising campaigns that align with organizational priorities and moments of opportunity.
- Lead or co-manage the setup, testing, and optimization of donation pages using tools like FundraiseUp or similar platforms.
- Use data-driven insights to refine fundraising appeals, donor segmentation, and supporter journeys to increase retention and lifetime value.
- Track and report on digital fundraising performance, including open rates, clickthrough rates, conversion rates, and ROI of email and ad-based campaigns.
Content Copywriting
- Assist in writing compelling, timely, and action-oriented emails during breaking news or rapid response moments that align with Dream.Org’s mission and campaign objectives.
- Adapt messaging for various platforms — including email & web — while adhering to best practices for tone, clarity, and urgency.
Qualifications & Skills
- 3–5 years of experience in digital strategy, digital campaigning, or web management within a mission-driven or advocacy organization.
- Demonstrated expertise in website administration, SEO, analytics, and web performance.
- Experience managing platforms such as WordPress, WPEngine, GA4, Google Tag Manager, and web hosting services.
- Strong familiarity with online ad platforms, paid acquisition campaigns, and cross-channel digital strategy.
- Comfortable with HTML and wireframing tools; experience with tools like Canva or formal design software is a plus.
- Analytical mindset with experience translating digital data into strategy recommendations.
- Strong copywriting skills with the ability to write quickly and persuasively, aligning messaging with organizational values and tone.
- Familiarity with donation platforms (e.g., FundraiseUp) and ability to manage backend functions such as tracking performance and optimizing donor journeys.
- Experience managing Google Ads campaigns and optimizing performance within the Google Ads Grant program, including keyword strategy, audience targeting, and compliance with grant guidelines.
- Tech savvy & keeps current with emerging digital platforms.
- Handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
- Excellent interpersonal and project management skills.
- A team player who communicates clearly and collaborates across departments.
- Political or advocacy experience is preferred.
- Passion for justice, equity, and innovation in digital organizing and movement building.
Preferred
- Experience with ActionKit or similar digital advocacy tools.
- Track record in digital advertising strategy and optimization.
- Familiarity with emerging trends in search, social media, and AI’s impact on digital visibility.

After a 6 month waiting period, employees can contribute to our retirement plan. Currently, Dream.Org offers up to a 5% match. We also offer a flexible spending, pre-tax program for medical expenses, dependent care expenses, transit expenses and parking expenses. All full-time Dream.Org employees accrue 4 weeks of vacation time off and 12 days of sick time off over the first year of employment. Part-time employees accrue time off on a prorated basis. In addition to 10 paid holidays, Dream.Org also provides paid time off from December 24th through January 1st each year.
