Location: Remote
Salary Range: $71,500 - $81,000 (Depending on Experience and Location; this salary is based on California, New York and Washington DC)

Purpose:
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join a growing team at the ground floor. You will have chances to learn, grow, and advance as a communications and press relations professional while working for a world beyond prisons, pollution, and polarization.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Creating and distributing press materials, including press releases, media advisories, talking points, and other materials.
- Implementing press relations campaigns, including pitching reporters and editors, coordinating between journalists and Dream.Org staff, and maintaining databases of reporters and pitches.
- Research, including the development of press lists and compilation of relevant background information, to support PR objectives.
- Responding to media inquiries in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitoring media coverage and recommending strategies to tap into relevant news cycles.
- Support of messaging efforts through social media, website and digital communications as needed.
- Preparing executives for media appearances and managing press conference coordination as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, English or relevant history of internships and/or volunteer leadership roles in communications.
- 1-2 years of experience in media relations, journalism, communications, sales, or related field.
- Relationship-building and networking abilities.
- Commitment to working with unlikely allies to find common ground and create change.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to listen well and positively represent the organization and its mission, flexibility, and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and stay on deadline
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google tools
Preferred Education/Skills/Experience:
- This is a people-first job. We are looking for energy, passion, and a genuine desire to build common ground with people from diverse communities across the country
- Familiarity with policy responses to the climate crisis and mass incarceration.
- Experience proactively building relationships with reporters and editors, and in successfully positioning issues with the media to achieve high-impact placements.
- Skill with Canva, Asana, Slack, MuckRack, Cision, design software, blogging software, and social media platforms preferred.
- Experience with crisis management and rapid response communications.
- Comfort with working with diverse stakeholders to advance policy goals, such as faith organizations, organized labor, and business communities
Location
- This position is remote, and applicants from anywhere in the US are encouraged to apply.
This position will be reviewed starting June 3rd, 2024 until a candidate is hired.

All full-time employees receive Medical, Dental & Vision coverage. Dream.Org pays 100% of premiums for employee, spouse and dependents. Part-time employees receive 50% coverage. After a 6 month waiting period, employees can contribute to our retirement plan. Currently, Dream.Org offers up to a 5% match. We also offer a flexible spending, pre-tax program for medical expenses, dependent care expenses, transit expenses and parking expenses. All full-time Dream.Org employees accrue 4 weeks of vacation time off and 12 days of sick time off over the first year of employment. Part-time employees accrue time off on a prorated basis. In addition to 10 paid holidays, Dream.Org also provides paid time off from December 24th through January 1st each year.
