Financial Security Program

The Aspen Institute Financial Security Program’s (Aspen FSP) mission is to illuminate and solve the most critical financial challenges facing American households and to make financial security for all a top national priority. We aim for nothing less than a more inclusive economy with reduced wealth inequality and shared prosperity. ABOUT THIS ROLE

The communications intern will work closely with the Marketing, Communications, and Events team of the Financial Security Program to support the execution of its fall editorial and event calendar, with a particular focus on website and social media management. The duration of this internship will be from September to December 2025. The pay range is $18-$20 per hour, with expectations of working hours being no more than 20 hours a week.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Support the Marketing and Communications team as we reorganize our website (60%).Â

  • Cataloguing and tagging Aspen FSP’s publication libraryÂ
  • Assisting with SEO optimization of core Aspen FSP pages and tracking associated analytics
  • Assisting with page editing and design when relevant

Assist with the social media and email promotion of Aspen FSP’s publications and fall events (20%)

  • Drafting copy and designing relevant graphics for LinkedIn and email
  • Helping to manage Aspen FSP’s LinkedIn account

Contribute to event management and communications (10%)

  • Supporting the events team in the execution of virtual and in-office events, especially our October 1 event for the National Task Force on Fraud and Scam Prevention
  • Updating and maintaining our events calendar via Airtable and Microsoft Calendar

  • Drafting event attendee communications in collaboration with the Events Manager

Work with the Senior Associate for Marketing and Communications to support additional communications tasks as needed (10%).Â

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

  • Gain understanding and experience with website editing and management.

  • Exercise editorial and marketing skills through social media and email promotion.

  • Gain exposure to event planning and logistics.

  • Collaborate with team members across issue areas and projects.

  • Learn more about household financial security.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO THRIVE:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent college graduate, with relevant communications or marketing experience.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with an attention to detail.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, MailChimp, WordPress, Canva or Adobe, and other content management tools.

  • Strong collaboration skills.
