ABOUT THIS ROLE

With various cross-cutting responsibilities, the Associate Director, Impact & Strategic Projects is a strategic, impact-driven, and dynamic role that will drive the impact of the Aspen Global Leadership Network and its Fellows by managing strategic impact projects and partnerships as well as rolling out robust monitoring and evaluation (MEL) systems. This role will also provide impact and strategic thought partnership to various teams and will ensure cross-network learning, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and strong operations. The Associate Director will report to the Managing Director, Impact and Incubation and will have close working relationships with other members of the Aspen Global Leadership Network Team, Fellowships, programmatic partners, donors and supporters. This is an evolving role based on the growing needs of the AGLN, with key responsibilities below.

This position reports to directly to the Managing Director, Impact and Incubation. The salary range for this position is $112,500 – $118,500. In accordance with our Reimagining Work policy, the ?Associate Director should be willing to be in-person with colleagues a minimum of 40% of the time while having the flexibility to work remotely for the balance.

WHT YOU WILL DO

Operationalizing Strategic Priorities & Increasing Impact
  • Lead the design, implementation, and overall project management of AGLN special impact initiatives, including donor projects, stewardship of innovation funds, running new pilots, and approving and issuing award funds to Fellowships and Fellows with impressive impact journeys and ventures.
  • When requested, lead strategic sprints and prepare material, including board decks, to support the evolution of AGLN’s Strategy and Fellowships’ Theories of Change.
  • Support Fellowship teams in analyzing and reflecting on their Theories of Change as well as building robust monitoring and evaluation systems to track their progress and impact.
  • Work with the Managing Director, Impact & Incubation, Fellowships, and external consultants to conduct a thorough analysis of Fellows’ impact at the individual, company/organizational, sectoral, and societal levels through Fellowship ventures, collaborative action, and action pledges.
  • Orient and onboard key stakeholders (including partners and Fellowship teams) to the AGLN leadership venture/impact journey process.
  • Engage the AGLN Communications team to design Leadership case studies, stories, decks, and briefs to tell the impact story of Fellowships and Fellows.
  • Lead the design and implementation of new impact modalities such as renewal seminars, conversations, and place-based gatherings, in support of maximizing the lifelong leadership and impact journey of our fellows.
  • Participate and/or staff 3-4 AGLN events and seminars on an ad hoc basis - domestic and international travel will be a requirement.
Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning & Knowledge Sharing
  • Lead the design and roll-out of a robust impact monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) system for the AGLN and Fellowship teams, aimed towards a clear theory of change.
  • Design and onboard Fellowship teams to current evaluation processes and tools to help monitor their progress.
  • Work with the AGLN Team to design, develop, and execute year-round learning opportunities to share best practices with other colleagues (e.g., impact journey, venture evolution, Selection of Fellows, Salesforce, etc.).
  • Lead the execution and planning for Fellowship Program Directors’ monthly meetings.
  • Actively broker and manage key relationships with internal teams and partners that could amplify the impact of the AGLN community; responsibilities may include scheduling calls, developing project management plans, and ensuring close coordination between stakeholders on strategic priorities.
  • Develop and maintain robust knowledge-sharing platforms and training tools to ensure strong operations across AGLN Fellowship programs.
Systems & Data Management
  • Prepare analyses and reports related to impact, strategy, ventures, and application forms.
  • Lead the process for semi-annual data audits and updates for both internal and external Fellowship Programs (Fellow contact updates, new classes, venture updates, partnership engagements, etc.).
  • Design surveys, questionnaire, application forms, and progress/evaluation surveys in Salesforce and other platforms.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO THRIVE

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7-10 years combined experience in fellowship/program management, monitoring and evaluation, project management, strategy development and execution, preferably in the nonprofit and/or leadership development space, with a proven track record of effective management, significant accomplishments, and growth.
  • With a strong project management track record, you thrive on bringing ideas to life; you are detail-oriented and have a proven track record of moving ideas to execution with ease and joy.
  • Experience managing direct reports and/or contractors.
  • Experience in designing and applying Monitoring and Evaluation systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a polished and professional demeanor, outstanding people skills, and self-awareness.
  • You are an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, able to distill complex concepts into compelling storylines, decks, and narratives. You are comfortable developing PowerPoint slides and decks for various audiences ranging from board members to senior management teams and technical teams.
  • An impact-oriented leader with a strategic mindset and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships, with the ability to build rapport and trust with other individuals and departments.
  • Demonstrated passion about building a global community of practice and systems of influence.
  • History of leading with humility, possessing a deep sense of mission with an insatiable curiosity about the world.
  • Excellent cultural competence and experience working directly with partners from diverse backgrounds, including a willingness to travel globally.
  • Ability to resolve time-sensitive and highly confidential matters with discretion and diplomacy.
  • A desire to learn, sense of humor, flexibility, and resourcefulness.
