ABOUT THE ROLE

The Aspen Latinos & Society Program (Aspen Latinos) is looking for a Communications Intern to support the program team with enhancing and elevating our communications and outreach activities. The Communications Intern will work directly with the Sr. Communications Manager across several of Aspen Latinos initiatives to develop and executive digital communications efforts, including social media strategy and performance tracking, editorial product support (i.e., blogs, newsletters, web copy, etc.), and developing creative collateral for promotional activities.

POSITION

Paid internship up to 24 hours per week.

Location: Washington, D.C. Current Aspen Institute policies require employees to work from the office a minimum of 40% of their working hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in planning and executing social media tactics and strategies, which includes developing and scheduling social media content calendars across our various platforms;
  • Track digital campaign performance and engagement, and report on social media analytics;
  • Support with writing and editing engaging and informative content for our website, blog, and newsletter;
  • Assist in tasks related to event planning and execution, including organizing day-of event tasks;
  • Complete projects relating to program outreach and partnerships, including collecting contact information and drafting correspondences;
  • Support with constituent database management, including a transfer from an existing database to a new one, update individual constituent profiles, and prepare large Excel sheets for export into the database;
  • Create visually appealing graphics and images for social media posts, blog articles, and other digital content;
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Status as a student or recent graduate interested in communications, marketing, journalism, public policy, or a related field.
  • Experience with populating, monitoring, and strategizing on the use of social media and other communications platforms.
  • You are regularly told you are a very good and compelling writer.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, energy, and initiative.
  • A “can-do” problem solver attitude.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational abilities, and time management skills, especially under pressure.
  • You are also told you are creative and frequently come up with new, innovative ideas.
  • Working experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and WordPress.
  • A passion for digital marketing and communication.
  • Spanish proficiency is desirable but not essential.
