WHAT YOU’LL DO
Teach For America–Memphis seeks a Director, Licensure and Matriculation to ensure our corps members are fully licensed in Tennessee and that our incoming corps members are confirmed, retained, and onboarded successfully. You will play a critical leadership role across both strategic functions—licensure compliance and matriculation onboarding—and serve as a key member of the Program Operations team.
You should bring a strong commitment to educational equity, a detail-oriented mindset, and a passion for supporting others through complex processes. You will lead regional licensure work, steward our relationship with the Tennessee Department of Education, and manage all licensing processes and test preparation. In parallel, you’ll co-lead our efforts to build our incoming corps by driving confirmation, onboarding, and early engagement.
You will report to the Managing Director, Program Operations.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Licensure Strategy and Compliance (70%)
Serve as primary liaison to the Tennessee Department of Education, ensuring ongoing compliance with licensure and educator preparation provider (EPP) requirements.
Participate in relevant state trainings and stay informed of evolving licensure policies.
Oversee alignment to state, literacy, and content-based standards for corps members.
Build and manage robust systems to track progress toward state and program requirements.
Lead state audits, data requests, and reviews with accuracy and professionalism.
Design and implement a licensure test strategy that removes barriers to certification success for corps members and alumni.
Manage graduate school partnerships and continuing education programs.
Lead TFA Memphis’s licensure strategy as an Educator Preparation Provider.
Matriculation and Onboarding (20%)
Co-lead regional matriculation efforts by designing and executing a compelling strategy that confirms incoming corps members (ICMs) and builds their connection to Memphis and our movement.
Train and laterally manage regional staff, alumni, and corps members participating in the matriculation campaign.
Identify key trends between confirmation windows and adjust strategy to maximize corps size and preparedness.
Manage corps member onboarding, including training design, communication strategy, and logistical support.
Track onboarding milestones and maintain regional data systems to monitor progress.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Program Operations, Leadership Development, and other teams to ensure a smooth and supportive corps transition.
Team Engagement and Organizational Stewardship (10%)
Participate in regional and national team meetings, retreats, and collaborative planning sessions.
Contribute to shared organizational priorities and support team-wide initiatives.
Maintain a stewardship mindset—“we all win together”—to ensure collective success.
A WEEK IN THE LIFE
Over a typical week, the Director of Licensure and Matriculation might:
Meet with your manager to assess progress, celebrate wins, and troubleshoot licensing issues.
Collaborate with internal TFA staff and external educator preparation programs to align on licensure support.
Update tracking tools that monitor corps member progress toward certification.
Communicate with corps members to guide them through required licensure actions.
Solve administrative challenges—such as AmeriCorps funding for coursework or registration issues.
Send updates via Slack or email to regional teams regarding progress toward licensure and matriculation goals.
Attend State Board of Education meetings and communicate updates that may impact programming.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):
3–5 years of professional experience.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Demonstrated success managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Strong organization, attention to detail, and project management skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, goal-driven, and collaborative environment.
Commitment to educational equity and TFA’s mission and values.
BONUS (preferred qualifications):
Experience working in education or with educator preparation programs.
Strong reasoning, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
High proficiency in Google Suite, Excel, and Microsoft Office.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Experience managing data systems and adapting to new platforms quickly.
Willingness to work some evenings/weekends and travel 1–2 times per year.

YOUR COMPENSATION
The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the minimum and the salary range midpoint, depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Salary Tier A: $67,500 – $90,300
