ROLE TITLE: Director, Alumni Strategy (Full-time)

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Director, Alumni Strategy (DAS) will lead the development and execution of a regional alumni engagement and leadership strategy to support the nearly 300 Teach For America alumni living and working in Greater Baton Rouge. This role will foster alumni connectivity, drive leadership development, and cultivate community partnerships in alignment with our 2030 goal.

Success in this role will require strong strategic thinking, operational execution, stakeholder engagement, and a results-oriented mindset. The DAS will build career pathways for alumni, lead talent-matching efforts, and design initiatives that amplify alumni leadership across education, civic engagement, and the broader social impact landscape.

Key Outcomes in Year One

  • Increase the number of alumni in high-impact leadership roles

  • Engage at least 60% of the local alumni base in meaningful connection and collaboration

  • Develop and launch a regional alumni leadership development strategy with an emphasis on career advancement and talent pipeline building

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Set Vision, Strategy, and Execute Operations for Alumni Talent Matching & Career Acceleration (40%)

  • Design and execute a comprehensive strategy for alumni career development and leadership placement

  • Build strategic partnerships with employers, hiring managers, and talent organizations to facilitate alumni placement in high-impact roles

  • Lead alumni talent-matching initiatives and provide tailored career coaching

  • Collaborate across the Teach For America network, including LEE and the national alumni team, to align efforts and expand opportunities

  • Operationalize enterprise-wide alumni benefits and value propositions locally

Design, Manage, and Execute Alumni Programming & Engagement (40%)

  • Design and implement engagement strategies and programming that foster alumni connection and leadership

  • Lead the experience and transition strategy for second-year corps members entering alumni hood

  • Manage the Alumni Advisory Board and auxiliary committees

  • Develop and execute predictable, purposeful alumni communications

  • Oversee and coordinate the annual Excellence in Teaching Award process

Lead Alumni Data Integrity, Accuracy, and Systems Alignment (10%)

  • Maintain and enhance the accuracy of alumni data in TFACT, targeting at least 80% data freshness annually

  • Use Salesforce Marketing Cloud and analytics tools to monitor campaign effectiveness and alumni engagement

  • Create systems and guidance for internal teammates to support ongoing data integrity

Enterprise Responsibilities (10%)

Participate in cross-functional initiatives, including:

  • Corps member development experiences (e.g., Practicum, professional development)

  • Selection processes for corps members and Ignite fellows

  • Enterprise and regional leadership development initiatives

  • Community engagement events where TFA representation is needed

A WEEK IN THE LIFE

In a typical week, the DAS might:

  • Meet with local partners to discuss emerging career opportunities

  • Facilitate mentorship between alumni at different career stages

  • Provide 1:1 coaching and leadership development to alumni

  • Align with the Alumni Board Chair on strategic engagement priorities

  • Update alumni records and analyze recent campaign performance

  • Plan and coordinate alumni recognition or networking events

  • Visit schools with high alumni presence to deepen relationships

YOUR EXPERIENCE

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):

  • Minimum of 6 years of professional experience, with a focus in areas such as project management, community engagement, and talent development

  • Demonstrated success in building career advancement programming or pipelines, ideally in education or nonprofit sectors

  • Strategic thinker with proven ability to execute complex initiatives

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted, results-driven partnerships

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce

Bonus (preferred qualifications):

  • Deep understanding of the local education landscape and nonprofit ecosystem

  • Teach For America experience preferred

  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend events

  • Ability to travel within the region

  • Capable of lifting up to 30 pounds

YOUR COMPENSATION

The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Salary Tier A: $74,300-99,200
