POSITION REPORTS TO: Daimont Staples - MD, Strategy & Impact (GNO)

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Friday, July 11, 2025

LOCATION: New Orleans, Louisiana

WHAT YOU’LL DO

We are looking for an Associate, Operations and Engagement to build and maintain strong internal systems that enable our team to operate at its best. In this role, you will manage our regional office, drive finance and compliance operations with efficiency and accuracy, support key team-wide projects, and lead our local community engagement efforts—including social media and donor-facing communications. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring our team feels supported, our systems are seamless, and our community is engaged and inspired by our work.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about designing and implementing smart, user-friendly systems that empower others and streamline operations. You thrive in environments where you can balance thoughtful project management with detailed execution, and you bring an exceptional customer service mindset to everything you do. You are energized by building welcoming and professional office environments, managing logistics that make big moments happen, and creating communications that help tell our regional story. The goal is to build and sustain the operational and engagement backbone that powers our team’s impact across Greater New Orleans.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Operations & Logistics – 60%

  • Execute day-to-day regional operations, ensuring timely and accurate administrative, finance, and compliance processes

  • Build and maintain systems, structures, and documentation to support seamless internal operations across the Greater New Orleans (GNO) team

  • Lead planning and execution of all regional events, including internal meetings, staff retreats, and external community-facing engagements

  • Manage vendor relationships and oversee logistical components such as printing, shipping, and outreach mailings

  • Coordinate meeting logistics, materials, and scheduling to ensure smooth execution of regional priorities

Special Projects & Community Engagement – 30%

  • Manage local social media accounts to increase brand awareness, community engagement, and alignment with national communications

  • Support execution of regional campaigns and appreciation efforts such as Teacher Appreciation Week and end-of-year celebrations

  • Represent the region at community events and engage with local partners in support of educational equity

  • Provide project management and operational support to the Executive Director on key initiatives and events

Enterprise Responsibilities – 10%

  • Participate in organization-wide experiences such as corps member selection, fellow selection, and professional development opportunities

  • Engage in regional and team-wide leadership development and culture-building efforts

  • Model our core values and commitments in all interactions, contributing to a collaborative, equity-driven culture across the team

A WEEK IN THE LIFE

Your week begins by prepping for the Monday team meeting - sending out the agenda, ensuring the office is ready for in-person staff, and confirming tech is set up for hybrid participation. You check in on outstanding finance approvals, process reimbursements, and follow up with a vendor to finalize logistics for an upcoming partner event. Midweek, you’re leading the charge on a Teacher Appreciation campaign, coordinating mailing lists, placing print orders, and scheduling social media posts to spotlight educators across the region.

Later in the week, you join a community education event, representing Teach For America GNO and connecting with partners aligned to our mission. You post live updates to social media and gather content for future communications. Between events, you troubleshoot a facilities issue at the office, update internal operations documentation, and support the Executive Director by drafting materials for an upcoming donor briefing. You wrap up the week with a regional team huddle and ensure everything is in place for next week’s alumni engagement event.

No two days are exactly the same - but each one is rooted in ensuring operational excellence, a strong team culture, and deep community connection.
