WHAT YOU’LL DO
We are looking for a strategic and relationship-driven leader to guide and support our alumni in the New York region as they navigate their professional and civic journeys. In this role, you will design and execute career coaching, build meaningful partnerships, and create opportunities that connect Teach For America alumni to impactful career and leadership pathways.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about equipping others to lead lives of purpose and influence, with the ability to coach effectively, cultivate partnerships, and create engaging programming. You bring a strong sense of initiative, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to equity and alumni success. Your work will support alumni as they grow in their careers, pursue advanced education, and step into roles that drive change in their communities.
The goal is to ensure that alumni across the state are connected, supported, and inspired to lead in ways that advance educational equity and positively impact student outcomes.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Design and implement alumni talent strategy, including recruitment, matching, and professional development, with an emphasis on civic leadership.
Meet 1:1 with alumni to support their career development.
In partnership with the Director, Alumni and Community Impact, design and implement the TFA NY mid-level leader-focused fellowship program.
Manage and deepen relationships with professional development and graduate school partners that offer opportunities for alumni growth.
Serve as the primary liaison between TFA’s national Career Center and the New York region to align alumni pathways strategies.
Coordinate with Leadership for Educational Equity (LEE) to drive outcomes in policy, advocacy, organizing, and elected leadership.
Develop and execute a comprehensive alumni engagement strategy focused on civic and career pathways.
Plan and implement events that advance alumni professional growth, including workshops, career fairs, and networking opportunities
A WEEK IN THE LIFE
Partnerships (30%): Manage relationships with professional development and graduate school partners who provide learning opportunities for alumni in the region. Serve as the liaison between the national Career Center team and the NY region. Serve as the liaison between Leadership for Educational Equity (LEE) and the NY region, responsible for targets and outcomes focused on policy, advocacy, organizing, and elected leadership.
Coaching (30%): Supporting alumni throughout the region in their pursuit of various career objectives, including but not limited to: professional development, graduate school, career change, etc. Utilizes best practices of career coaching to provide relevant coaching to alumni.
Leadership Initiatives (20%): Managing fellowship designed to support and retain mid-level school leaders across the region in collaboration with the full Alumni team.
Events (10%): Develop strategies for impactful events that are focused primarily on alum career and professional development (i.e., workshops, job fairs, etc.) and set ambitious goals for each event.
Team Responsibilities (10%): Additional expectations for duties aligned to team-wide and organization-wide goals (i.e., team meetings, new corps member interviews, etc.)
YOUR EXPERIENCE
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications): 5–7 years of experience in career coaching, advising, or talent development, ideally working with professionals in education, nonprofit, or mission-driven sectors.
Demonstrated ability to develop and manage strategic partnerships with graduate programs, professional organizations, or civic institutions.
Experience designing and executing professional development events such as workshops, panels, or networking forums with measurable outcomes.
Strength in working collaboratively and managing laterally and upwards to get the job done.
Familiarity with civic leadership, policy, or advocacy work, and comfort serving as a liaison between regional and national teams or external partners (e.g., LEE or similar organizations).
Proven strength in stakeholder engagement and relationship management, with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse audiences.
Experience creating and implementing engagement strategies that build community and drive sustained participation.
Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize competing demands, work independently, and deliver results.
A deep commitment to educational equity and social impact, with experience supporting or being part of alumni networks, fellowships, or leadership development programs.
Bachelor’s Degree required

Transformational leadership in New York has led to significant progress – fourth graders in our city are performing a full grade-level higher than a decade ago, and the high school graduation rate has increased for ten consecutive years. Teach For America is a significant source of leadership working to make these changes. Approximately 500 corps members and 6,000 alumni call the city home, as well as the many staff members who work from our national headquarters in Manhattan.
YOUR COMPENSATION
The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.
