WHAT YOU’LL DO

Teach For America Nevada seeks a Director, Talent who will drive key aspects of our recruitment campaign, deepen prospective applicant and stakeholder conviction about our work, and build awareness about TFA and the impactful opportunities that exist across Nevada. You will identify and cultivate diverse top talent to pursue joining TFA and empower our network of corps members, alumni and other influential leaders through layers of influence to build a large and effective corps. You will set a vision for and execute on high-impact project(s) and innovative approaches that improve our regional approach to recruitment and yield a larger corps size year over year. After our recruitment season is over you will shift to matching our alumni to high impact roles. You will build relationships with local organizations and TFA Nevada alumni, serve as a resource to help connect alumni with local opportunities, and help our alumni successfully find roles that align with their skills and aspirations for impact.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Corps Member Recruitment, Matriculation, & Onboarding (60%)

  • Collaborate with national recruitment team members and local staff to increase the number of admitted applicants to the Nevada region

  • Lead the design, execution, and operations for recruitment events or projects through planning, exemplary attention to detail, and benchmarking and tracking progress

  • Participate in various recruitment efforts, including both local and out of state events

  • Collaborate with others to evolve our approach to recruitment by contributing to the design of our national strategy and supplemental regional strategies

  • Design and lead new innovative approaches to help the region tap into new markets and pools of potential applicants

  • Assist with designing and implementing a regional matriculation and onboarding strategy to ensure that our admitted applicants successfully begin the school year

Alumni Talent Matching (30%)

  • Support our alumni team to ensure TFA Nevada alumni are matched to local roles where they can continue to achieve impact

  • Build relationships with local organizations and track and monitor open roles that may be a good fit for our alumni

  • Create and implement communication systems to keep our alumni aware of professional opportunities

  • Serve as a resource for alumni looking for new roles

  • Set and monitor goals around alumni talent matching, including increasing the number of alumni in high impact roles that influence our education ecosystem

Additional Regional Responsibilities (10%)

  • Support, attend, and participate in regional team activities, including corps member and alumni-facing events, staff meetings, functional team meetings and retreats, and more.

  • Operate flexibly to lend skills and capacity to meet the needs of emerging projects or priorities as they arise.

A WEEK IN THE LIFE

During our recruitment season, the Director, Talent will spend their time cultivating exceptional talent to apply for Teach For America Nevada. You will collaborate with other national and regional team members to execute on our national recruitment strategy and will supplement our national strategy with local approaches and innovations with the goal of increasing our overall corps size. You will participate in a variety of recruitment events both within and outside of Nevada. After recruitment season is over you will spend your time helping our alumni get impactful roles that will help further our mission locally. You will monitor and track open roles, get to know the career aspirations of our alumni, and serve as a resource to match our alumni with open roles.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):

  • At least 4 year of relevant work experience related to recruitment and/or talent

  • Experience working in the field of education or related industries

  • Ability to influence and motivate prospective corps members and get them excited about our mission and our efforts in Nevada

  • Strong communication and project management skills and ability to lead and organize multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to develop and execute strategies and monitor progress to continuously improve outcomes

  • Experience working with database programs and software required (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Salesforce)

  • Thinking outside of the box and ability to design and test out innovative approaches

  • Ability to travel locally and periodically outside of Nevada and work occasionally during evenings and weekends

  • Ability to build, strengthen, and sustain relationships with corps member, alumni, and key external stakeholders

  • Continuously strives for personal and professional growth, reflecting on experiences, seeking and incorporating feedback, and taking ownership of their development and success

  • Experience leveraging quantitative and qualitative data to make informed decisions, and record of taking initiative to operate in a grey space

BONUS (preferred qualifications)

  • Teach For America alumni preferred or experience as a teacher

  • Knowledge of the Nevada and Clark County education landscape

  • Strong network within the Nevada education ecosystem

This position will sit at the intersection of our program and alumni teams and will play a critical role across our entire program continuum.

YOUR COMPENSATION

The applicable salary range for each U.S.- based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal review, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.

  • Tier A: $74,300 – $99,300
