WHAT YOU’LL DO

Teach For America: Greater Delta: Mississippi & Arkansas seeks a driven leader to serve as the Managing Director of Corps Member and Alumni Programming in the Greater Delta region. In this role, you will set the vision and strategy for key partnerships to support the growth of our corps members, including our university partnership with Delta State University, our certification partnership with the Mississippi and Arkansas Departments of Education, our school partnerships in five communities, and partnerships in the education ecosystem to advance our work towards our 2030 goal of doubling 3rd grade reading proficiency and increasing college and career readiness by 25% in three key communities of HWH, Clarksdale, and Sunflower County. In addition, you will lead design and execution of our corps member and alumni learning experiences in the region, including selecting sites for our summer practicum, crafting an arc of learning that aligns to national programming and both states’ certification requirements , and creating a vision for and supporting execution of in-person learning experiences and community-building.

As the primary regional point of contact to our Mid-South Program Hub, you will partner closely with the Senior Managing Director, Leadership Development (SMD,LD) to co-manage our corps member coaches—Managing Directors of Leadership Development (MD,LDs)—to execute our school partnership strategy, serving as a key thought-partner with local context to support problem-solving. You will also partner with them on the arc of corps member learning, leveraging their talents and skills in strategy, design, and execution.

Additionally, you will work closely with our MD, Network Operations and Partnerships to oversee our corps member licensure work, supporting our corps members in acquiring their teaching credential —a key pillar of our regional talent strategy.

The MD, CMA Programming co-manages the Greater Delta-based MD,LDs and reports to the Executive Director of the Greater Delta region.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Strategic Partnerships (50%)

  • Set the vision for and co-manage the Greater Delta MD,LD Team (2) on School Partnerships, with an eye towards moving school partners to stronger levels of partnership, rooted in greater conditions for student and teacher success, over time

  • Work closely with the MD, Network Operations, serving as the a point of contact for the University Partnership with Delta State University and the MS and AR Departments of Education, helping to move all corps members towards licensure

  • Identify and activate additional education ecosystem partnerships, including with alumni and other educational organizations, that can drive academic improvement in our schools to advance our 2030 goal

  • Lead the identification of partners and laying of groundwork for our Ignite High-Dosage tutoring model

  • Serve as the internal liaison with the national Corps Member and Alumni Leadership Development Team (CMALD), working with the SMD, LD to build coherence between the standard corps member program model and the Greater Delta region

  • Build structures and an arc of engagement for how TFA Greater Delta shows up to support our field team in the field, and how we are supporting the growth of these leaders

CM Learning Experience Design and Execution (35%)

  • Design and execute vision for CM learning experiences in-region and manage them to quality, creating coherence with national programming

  • These include:

  • Pre-Service (first year corps members, prior to arrival in-region)

  • Practicum (summer training program, 5 sites, ~July)

  • Regional In-Year Learning Summits (~3/year)

  • Professional Learning Communities (manage 3 PLC leaders to ensure consistent content development aligned with state certification requirements)

  • Alumni Induction (capstone for second-year corps members in April/May)

Alumni Strategy, Engagement, and Partnership: (15%)

  • Develop and execute a multi-year strategic plan to build a thriving alumni network in the Greater Delta in partnership with the team.

  • Serve as the primary architect for alumni-facing events, development programs, and experiences in the Greater Delta, ensuring alignment with organizational and regional goals.

  • Serve as the face of Teach For America to alumni in the Greater Delta, fostering strong relationships and cultivating a culture of belonging, collaboration, and continuous learning by engaging in community events, working alongside key community partners, and participating in professional and learning panels or workshops.

  • Create and execute a comprehensive alumni development plan, including leadership pipelines, career support, and tailored learning opportunities that advance alumni growth and influence.

  • Mobilize Greater Delta alumni to actively support recruitment, advocacy, and educational initiatives in the region and beyond.

  • Establish and manage systems for tracking alumni engagement, development, and recruitment outcomes to drive progress toward long-term objectives.

Organizational & Regional Stewardship (5%)

  • Support, attend, and/or participate in regional & cross-team activities and campaigns, including staff meetings and events

  • Participate in org-wide initiatives, including corps member matriculation and interviews

A WEEK IN THE LIFE

Over the course of any week, the Managing Director, Corps Member and Alumni Programming (MD, CMAP) will be in schools with MDLDs, grounding in context and ensuring that our theory of change—with the school as the unit of change—is activated in the Greater Delta. You will also spend time collaborating with the SMD, LD to align on programmatic vision, strategy, and execution. You will also work with the MD, Network Operations to manage our credentialing work and partnerships, and partner with the MD, Network Operations to ensure a strong and aligned regional approach to stewarding our school partnerships around corps member hiring. And, you will engage with school system leaders and community partners working in and around education to ensure that our program work is contextualized to our 2030 goal.

While this may vary week to week, day travel throughout the Greater Delta region is required for this role, as is occasional evening or weekend work. It is also expected that this staff member lives in the Greater Delta region and is able to travel to either our Helena-West Helena, Jackson, or Oxford offices at least weekly.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

We’ve found that the most successful team members in this role bring a mix of relevant experience, strategic thinking, and a deep commitment to equity. While there is no single background that guarantees success, the following qualifications are strong indicators of readiness:

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • At least 7 years of relevant professional experience, including 3+ years of managing individuals or teams with a track record of developing others.

  • Strong ties to the Greater Delta education ecosystem, with experience in school or district leadership that informs a deep understanding of school operations and decision-making processes.

  • Demonstrated success in program design and execution, especially in education-focused or leadership development contexts.

  • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity, build structure, and manage complex workstreams with minimal oversight.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the emotional intelligence (EQ) to inspire, motivate, and collaborate across diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong change management skills, with the ability to guide teams and individuals from uncertainty to clarity.

  • Deep understanding of the educator development journey, particularly the learning trajectory of novice teachers.

Preferred Qualifications (Highly Valued):

  • Teach For America alumni or corps member experience is highly preferred.

  • Experience in co-management or shared leadership models is strongly valued.

YOUR COMPENSATION

The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint, depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.

  • Tier A: $90,000 - $120,300
