WHAT YOU’LL DO

Teach For America Miami-Dade is seeking a collaborative and relationship-driven leader passionate about engaging and mobilizing our region's alumni network to drive meaningful impact for students, families, and communities. The Director, Alumni & Network Engagement (D, ANE) will lead efforts to strengthen alumni connections, foster leadership development, and build meaningful partnerships that advance educational equity across Miami-Dade and the greater South Florida area.

As a key regional team member, the D, ANE will focus on building and sustaining relationships that provide alumni with access to high-quality development opportunities and amplify the voices of students and community members. This role requires exceptional relationship-building skills, a focus on execution, and the ability to mobilize alumni to achieve measurable outcomes.

The Director will lead initiatives to engage and connect alumni across Miami-Dade, fostering a thriving and impactful network that drives change locally. They will cultivate relationships with alumni, community leaders, and partners to expand opportunities for leadership development and community impact. Additionally, the D, ANE will ensure that alumni have access to professional development opportunities, collaboration spaces, and support systems that enable them to deepen their engagement and achieve lasting outcomes for the region’s students and families. The Director will collaborate closely with the Managing Director, Statewide Alumni and Network Strategy, and regional teams to align alumni engagement efforts with Teach For America's broader goals.

Reporting to the Managing Director, Statewide Alumni and Network Strategy, the D, ANE will play a critical role in ensuring alumni are equipped and inspired to make a lasting difference for students and families.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Vision and Strategy (35%)

  • Set and lead the vision, strategy, and targets for alumni engagement initiatives with a primary focus on Miami-Dade, while collaborating with the Managing Director to contribute to broader alumni strategy and impact across Florida.

  • Develop and execute a multi-year strategic plan to build a thriving alumni network in Miami-Dade in partnership with the Managing Director of Statewide Alumni & Network Strategy.

  • Serve as the primary architect for alumni-facing events, development programs, and experiences in Miami-Dade, ensuring alignment with organizational and regional goals.

  • Establish and manage systems for tracking alumni engagement, development, and recruitment outcomes to drive progress toward long-term objectives.

Alumni Engagement and Impact (30%)

  • Lead the Miami-Dade and South Florida alumni network by deeply understanding alumni needs, the local context, and key partners to drive meaningful impact in education and beyond.

  • Serve as the face of Teach For America to alumni in Miami-Dade, fostering strong relationships and cultivating a culture of belonging, collaboration, and continuous learning by engaging in community events, working alongside key community partners, and participating in professional and learning panels or workshops.

  • Create and execute a comprehensive alumni development plan, including leadership pipelines, career support, and tailored learning opportunities that advance alumni growth and influence.

  • Mobilize Miami-Dade alumni to actively support recruitment, advocacy, and educational initiatives in the region and beyond.

Partnership Development (25%)

  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, serving as a key representative of Teach For America to establish mutually beneficial partnerships in Miami-Dade.

  • Collaborate with schools, districts, community organizations, and other stakeholders in Miami-Dade to connect alumni with high-impact opportunities and advance shared goals.

  • Conduct community needs assessments in Miami-Dade to identify gaps and develop innovative solutions integrating alumni leadership and community voices into regional efforts.

  • Partner with stakeholders across the state to expand initiatives such as fellowships, professional development opportunities, and teacher pipelines, leveraging Miami-Dade as a key hub for impact.

Broader Network Engagement (10%)

  • Create and execute strategies to engage the broader Teach For America network, including alumni, corps members, and community allies in Miami-Dade, to build coalitions for impact.

  • Design, plan, and manage alumni-focused events, mission tours, and other engagement opportunities in Miami-Dade to strengthen ties within the network and elevate Teach For America’s presence in the region.

  • Collaborate with other Florida regions and the national team to align Miami-Dade alumni initiatives with broader organizational priorities.

A WEEK IN THE LIFE

Over the course of any week, the Director, Alumni & Network Engagement, will:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key alumni and partners in Miami-Dade by hosting one-on-one meetings, participating in community events, and identifying opportunities for collaboration that align with Teach For America’s mission.

  • Lead the planning and execution of alumni-focused events such as professional development workshops, community engagement initiatives, or networking gatherings to deepen alumni connections and impact.

  • Collaborate with community partners, local school leaders, and nonprofit organizations to recruit alumni into leadership roles and create pathways for alumni teachers to join and thrive in Miami-Dade schools.

  • Provide individualized coaching and resources for alumni seeking career advancement or professional development opportunities, ensuring they are equipped with the tools and skills to excel in their roles.

  • Analyze data on alumni engagement and development to evaluate progress toward goals, identifying gaps and opportunities to better serve the alumni network.

  • Design communications, such as newsletters and social media posts, to keep alumni informed about upcoming events, initiatives, and opportunities for involvement.

  • Partner with the Managing Director, Statewide Alumni & Network Strategy, the Florida alumni team, and regional teams to align local alumni engagement efforts with broader statewide goals, ensuring cohesion and impact across Teach For America Florida.


YOUR EXPERIENCE

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):

  • At least four years of experience in project management, program management, relationship management, or community engagement.

  • At least two years of classroom teaching experience or experience working directly in education-focused roles.

  • Significant experience cultivating and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders, including external partners, to advance shared goals.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and a proven ability to influence and mobilize others toward ambitious outcomes.

  • Strong ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven experience in planning, managing, and executing high-impact events, such as alumni gatherings, professional development workshops, and community engagement initiatives, with a focus on strategic outcomes and stakeholder engagement.

  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a track record of fostering belonging in professional or community settings.

  • Passion for Teach For America’s mission and a belief in the potential of alumni and corps members to create lasting impact.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

BONUS (preferred qualifications):

  • Familiarity with Teach For America’s alumni engagement strategy and its work in Florida.

  • Experience living and working in the Miami-Dade area.

  • Teach For America corps member or staff experience.

  • History of participation in Teach For America programs, events, or opportunities.

  • Prior experience in education-related community engagement or nonprofit management.

YOUR COMPENSATION

The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Tier A - $74,300 - $111,300
