ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This role is a temporary position and is projected to end at the end of our Pre-Service commitment.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
As the Director, Pre-Service Support, you will help launch the Austin corps region! You will play a key role in creating the summer Corps Member learning experience (regionally known as Pre-Service) aimed at supporting Corps Members in:
Operating with excellence in the teacher role
Growing their network of partners in education
Building their understanding of the education landscape in Austin
The ideal candidate will have experience planning learning experiences for adults.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Project Management (85%)
Lead the planning and project management of the regional pre-service ensuring our newest corps members have a summer school teaching experience. This includes engaging with the national CMALD team to internalize the national vision for pre-service and lead the regional design and execution of the vision for practicum in Austin.
Create and manage systems to project manage team members to design and execute successful pre- service with a particular focus on the summer 2025 priorities.
Transition coaches from coach primarily to school leader primarily who also coaches to increase oversight or school logistics, communication, and alignment with TPS.
Create a viable plan for Austin CMs over the summer.
Create a strategy for student outcomes goals, staff/CM orientation, and end of summer roll up of student impact.
Collaborate with SMD, Partnerships (15%)
Submit draft plans to the SMD, Partnership for feedback, engage in discussions around desired revisions, incorporate feedback into designs.
A WEEK IN THE LIFE
Over the course of any week, the Director, Pre-Service Support will spend time:
Work with Practicum partner(s) to develop a teaching schedule
Determine CM content groupings for Pre-Service Training phase
Prep and facilitate regionally-facilitated sessions (Launch Live! sessions, Regional Community Building sessions, Practicum orientation spaces, all Clinics-Lesson Prep, Strategic Action, and Skills)
Develop and execute coaching strategy
Design regional strategy for lesson plan submission and feedback
Design regional strategy for additional work sample submission requirements and feedback (outside of lesson plan expectations)
Complete Practicum site guide(s) to be published for CMs"
Design regional experiences for Flex Time during Pre-Service/Practicum
If there is regional programming during Flex Time, facilitate regional programming
Determine CM Practicum teaching placements
YOUR EXPERIENCE
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):
Background in K-12 education, preferably with experience in classroom teaching
Familiarity with teacher preparation programs and educator training
Understanding of lesson planning, instructional strategies, and curriculum development
Experience in designing and facilitating professional development sessions
Ability to create structured learning experiences for educators
Strong facilitation skills for leading training sessions and community-building events
Ability to seek out manager feedback and incorporate feedback into ongoing experience.
BONUS (preferred qualifications)
Prior experience working with Teach For America alumni
Prior experience working at Teach For America Pre-Service, VSTT, or Summer Institute
YOUR FUTURE TEAM
In this role, you’ll be partnering with the TFA Austin Senior Managing Director, Partnership. Your work will support the launch of the founding TFA Austin corps region.
YOUR COMPENSATION
The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.
