WHAT YOU’LL DO
The MD, Financial Planning and Analysis provides financial decision making and strategy support to cost centers throughout Teach For America. This individual acts as the primary point of contact for team leaders and portfolio managers for all needs related to their financial management needs. Key responsibilities include leading cost centers through the budgeting and forecasting processes, managing restricted grants over their full lifecycle, ensuring cost center spending is compliant and aligned with team budgets, and providing in-year reporting and ad hoc analytical support to a portfolio of teams. This person will also support the Finance team’s commitment to racial equity and belonging by ensuring financial decision making is grounded in our commitment to equity, building relationships across lines of difference, and supporting efforts to maximize our impact in the communities in which we operate.
The ideal candidate has the ability to provide thorough and holistic financial analyses to executives throughout the organization while also operating at the tactical level necessary to support all cost center financial needs. The ideal candidate is also skilled at navigating internal structures and systems to support cost centers in achieving their financial management needs by partnering with others throughout the Finance team and Talent and Administration Portfolio. You will be someone who leads well through uncertainty and change and is able to support executive leaders through dynamic planning environments that are responsive to local and enterprise needs. You are also a systems thinker with a strong customer service orientation who is able to understand how to meet diverse needs and perspectives while using the team’s position and expertise to disrupt inequitable systems and decision making within the organization.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Act as Finance Business Partner to a portfolio of cost centers, providing financial decision making, strategy, and operational support
Complete budgeting and forecasting for a set of cost centers, including reporting and analysis supports that maximize impact, manage enterprise resources effectively, and support effective and compliant drawdown of restricted funding
Develop grant budgets and amendments aligned with cost center strategy and budgets in order to maximize compliance drawdown of restricted funding
Review cost center spending for compliance with team budgets, enterprise financial policies, and grant requirements including OMB and relevant state regulations
Partner with Accounting and Controls team to invoice grants for a portfolio of cost centers, complete grant financial reports and complete ongoing and fiscal year-end grant close out responsibilities
Participate in group discussions and ongoing learning and reflection about team culture, core values, and our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness to advance racial equity both individually and collectively

YOUR EXPERIENCE
Prior Experience
Financial planning and analysis and/or grants management experience required
Experience providing high stakes financial analysis to executive leaders
Proven track record of operating across lines of difference successfully
Work Demands
Willing to work occasional weekend or evening work hours required during peak seasons
Ability to travel to in-person gatherings up to 3-4 times per year
Skills
Strong financial analysis skills, including proficiency with excel, financial management software (such as Workday and Adaptive Planning), and similar tools
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong customer service orientation
Ability to operate within ambiguous and dynamic situations
Ability to develop strong relationships with peers and leaders throughout the organization

YOUR FUTURE TEAM
The Finance team ensures that Teach For America has the financial capabilities to enable us to meet our short- and long-term goals. The team oversees all financial matters, including accounting operations, planning and analysis, grants and contracts administration, and payroll processes. An arm of the broader Finance team, our new Financial Planning and Analysis subteam provides integrated grants and financial planning and analysis support to teams across Teach for America. This team has two primary functional groups: an integrated cost center support team that provides support to Teach for America’s 80+ cost centers and an enterprise support and analysis team that provides enterprise and cross-team financial analysis and grants support. This team not only supports teams and leaders across the organization, but it also utilizes its positional power to strive to disrupt inequitable systems & decision making.
YOUR COMPENSATION
The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary range for this role is set forth below. This range may be modified in the future.
Tier A: $90,000-134,800
Tier B: $98,100-146,900
Tier C: $106,200-159,200
