WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Teach For America - Baltimore team is looking for a Director, Alumni & Impact to co-create the vision for our alumni and impact work. Baltimore has an alumni community of more than 1,100. The Alumni & Impact team is responsible for accelerating alumni connectivity and belonging, and collective impact. Working in partnership with the Managing Director, Alumni & Impact as well as the Manager, Alumni Engagement and Communications, the Director, Alumni & Impact will design, manage, and execute engagement opportunities for alumni. The director will also be the primary point of contact for alumni beyond talent recruitment and retention. In addition to alumni initiatives, the Director will design and implement community impact work that contributes to the 2030 vision and goals. This vision and goal centers on systemic change, innovation, and collective action all in service to the advancement of students in Baltimore. The Director’s work will align with TFA’s mission, vision, core values, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). An emphasis on DEI will be integral to program design and overall community impact work, both of which are responsibilities of the director.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Alumni Community Program Design and Implementation (50%)
Design and implement relevant programming and events for the alumni community that support the regional alumni strategy and is aligned with TFA’s vision and national initiatives, Foundations, core values and commitment to DEI; all in service to developing anti-racist and equitable leadership
Develop meaningful relationships with alumni in order to further strengthen the alumni community via opportunities for growth and connection.
Serve as the primary contact for alumni who want to engage with Teach For America.
Broader TFA Network and Community Engagement (40%)
Lead project management and execution of key regional priorities related to impact including, but not limited to: Courtney Cass Catalyst Fund, 2030 Goal, and the regional Racial Equity Commitment
Establish and and maintain relevant local partnerships that contribute toward the success of regional priorities
Regional & Team Responsibilities (10%)
Participate in region- and organization-wide initiatives and events such as corps member interviews, regional kick-off, regional board meetings, and other regional events
Collaborate with functional teams in pursuit of regional goals, priorities, and outcomes
A WEEK IN THE LIFE
As the Director, Alumni & Impact, you will play a pivotal role in designing and executing initiatives that deepen alumni connectivity and belonging while driving collective impact aligned with Teach For America Baltimore's 2030 vision. A typical day may involve designing innovative alumni programming centered on anti-racist and equitable leadership development, building partnerships with local organizations to support regional priorities, and serving as the primary contact for alumni seeking meaningful ways to engage with TFA. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align your work with TFA’s mission and core values while contributing to systemic change and innovation in education. This role balances strategic vision, relationship-building, and the implementation of impactful programming to empower alumni and advance equity for Baltimore students.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
Over 5 years of experience leading and executing initiatives in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), with a proven ability to drive impactful change within organizations.
Successful track record in designing, facilitating, and evaluating adult learning sessions focused on DEI topics, fostering meaningful discussions and growth.
Consistent and intentional engagement in self-reflection and/or structured learning experiences to deepen understanding and advance proficiency in DEI concepts and practices.
Strong background in cultivating and maintaining authentic relationships across diverse groups, creating inclusive environments that promote collaboration and understanding.
BONUS (preferred qualifications)
Bachelor’s Degree is highly preferred.
Experience in education within the Baltimore region is highly preferred.
Teach For America corps member experience is highly preferred.
Knowledge of the Teach For America Baltimore network is a plus, but not required.
Proven ability to set and evolve project vision and direction, aligning objectives with organizational goals and driving long-term impact.
Expertise in building authentic, trusting relationships across diverse social and personal backgrounds, fostering inclusive environments that encourage collaboration and mutual respect.
In-depth understanding of key themes and events in the history of race, class, and other inequities, both in the U.S. and the Baltimore community, with the ability to translate this knowledge into actionable change within your role.
Commitment to continuously deepening understanding of systemic inequalities, including their historical roots and current manifestations in policies and practices, both within education and in broader societal contexts.
Skilled in designing and facilitating impactful learning experiences and events, with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), to foster growth and awareness.
Strong influencing skills, with the ability to inspire action through compelling written, visual, and interpersonal communication. Expertise in managing up and laterally to ensure alignment and successful outcomes.
Work Demands
Some evening and weekend work required.
Ability to travel throughout Baltimore for meetings and events

The Teach For America Baltimore Alumni & Impact team is charged with fostering a network of systems-change leaders dedicated to educational equity in Baltimore. The team, rooted in TFA’s Theory of Leadership and the Baltimore context, is a major contributor to our regional outcomes and our organization-wide goals. Our work is critical to our regional team’s ability to reach our goals by ensuring we have critical partnerships to facilitate our core program. We collaborate with other functional teams and amplify the progress of Baltimore to fuel a sense of urgency, rally necessary support, and ensure collective success on behalf of our students and communities. Our team’s goals are directly tied to our region’s vision of impact for corps members and alumni.
YOUR COMPENSATION
The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.
