WHAT YOU’LL DO
We are seeking an individual who will provide the operational support for matriculating and onboarding the incoming teachers to the Teach For America Los Angeles corps. You would work closely as part of the team that is responsible for ensuring incoming teachers are ready to be credentialed and hired by a school from the moment they receive their Teach For America offer until they start teaching. You would be responsible for ensuring smooth logistics for communications and virtual gatherings; supporting incoming teachers through the onboarding process; and ensuring that tracking systems remain up-to-date. The ideal candidate will be passionate for the job with the ability to stay incredibly organized, to move seamlessly between micro-level and macro-level tasks, and to communicate with others with compassion both in writing and verbally. While primary responsibilities will include working with partners to track and gather information aligned to key action items for our incoming teachers, you will also be responsible for providing more intensive support to a small portfolio of teachers. You should possess an ability to work in multiple ways: independently, one-on-one, and collaboratively. The goal is to ensure that all of our teachers have a smooth onboarding experience and are ready to start having a positive impact on students in their own classrooms in the fall.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Tracking and Communication Systems (50%)
Keep tracking systems up-to-date as new data and information is submitted
Support in maintaining the team inbox by responding to inquiries, filing emails, and tagging in other team members as necessary
Send targeted communications to different groups of incoming teachers at strategic times in their onboarding process to ensure they are making progress on action items
Intensive Support (15%)
Work with the onboarding team to identify individuals who need additional, intensive support to ensure they are hiring-ready, and able to teach on the first day of school
Maintain a small portfolio of incoming teachers to whom you will provide more direct, individualized support
New Teacher Hiring (15%)
Support with in-person and virtual hiring fair logistics and outreach
Follow up with hiring partners, certification partners, and individuals on an as-needed basis
Virtual Logistics (10%)
Provide logistical support for virtual gatherings, sessions, and office hours
Regional Team Responsibilities (10%)
Operate as an unwavering team player, attending all-staff meetings and supporting the execution of region-wide projects for the benefit of the collective team as a steward of key performance indicators
Participate in-region and organization-wide initiatives and events such as corps member selection, National staff calls, and working groups
YOUR EXPERIENCE
Work Demands
Occasional weekend and evening work is required for events within the Greater Los Angeles area
This role is required to travel to and work from our Downtown Los Angeles office at least 1 day per week, or as needed (in-person days vary based on constituent needs, but Tuesdays will always be required for team meetings)
This role is required to be at school sites in the Los Angeles metro area during the summer
Prior Experience
1-2 years of work experience in an operational role required
Working or collaborating in a team setting required
Previous experience in education or non-profit preferred
Experience managing Zoom logistics preferred
Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required
Skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets
Strong ability to stay organized, high attention to detail, and prioritize time
Ability to communicate thoughtfully to different audiences
Communicate complex next steps or requirements clearly and succinctly, both in writing and verbally
Build authentic relationships with constituents
Use data to make recommendations and decisions
YOUR COMPENSATION
The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Tier C: $31.59- $39.47
