ROLE TITLE: Manager, Recruitment and Operations (Full-Time)

POSITION REPORTS TO: Dr. Tenika Holden-Flynn, Executive Director

WHAT YOU’LL DO

At Teach For America Indianapolis, we are motivated by a goal to see twice as many children on a path to economic mobility by 2030. In pursuit of that goal, we have to strengthen our local educator recruitment efforts, streamline our execution of key events, and empower the full regional team to perform at their highest capabilities. We are looking for a Manager of Recruitment and Operations who is a self-motivated and innovative team player. The ideal candidate is passionate about finding new talent to inject into our education landscape and energized by connecting the smallest of details to our most rewarding work. The manager will work in partnership with the TFA Indianapolis team and TFA capability centers to recruit leaders, organize and coordinate plans that lead to successful events and programs. Serve as the point of contact for operations and budgeting tasks, create systems and processes that support the team with completing responsibilities with ease. The goals for this role include: 1)successfully collaborating with team members to create and implement exceptional project plans and presentations 2) creating and modifying systems and structures to ensure efficient and effective office management 3) meeting specific quarterly recruitment goals.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Recruitment (40%)

Recruitment will include, but is not limited to,

Growing and strengthening the movement for educational equity by compelling top leaders to join the Teach For America Indianapolis. As a recruiter you will execute the local vision and lead strategic plans for campaigns, identify and cultivate diverse top prospects, and inspire a broad network of constituents to build a large, diverse, and talented corps. Role responsibilities will include:

  • Co-set and define a strategy to achieve goals tailored to college, community and professional markets.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders on campuses, within partner organizations, and/or within the professional community to maximize outreach efforts in recruitment campaigns and promote a stronger organizational brand.

  • Build strong relationships with prospects and individualize on-going cultivation strategies based on the individual’s experience and background to ensure they complete the application process, confirm their acceptance into the corps, deepen their understanding of the root issues of educational inequity in the country, and continue building conviction and investment in the organizational mission.

  • Work across teams to plan, execute, and improve strategy, using data to identify gaps, patterns, and opportunities within campaigns and develop solutions to achieve outcomes.

  • Consistently leverage results from successes and failures that are conclusive, specific, and evidence-based to make pivots for campaigns and to inform broader innovation and strategy.

Project Management (40%)

Project management includes but is not limited to,

Co-creating project initiatives and seeing projects through from start to finish. Supporting project ideas and development, assembling and managing the team, monitoring progress and deadlines, identifying and working with the supervisor to resolve any issues that may arise, managing project budgets and creating tools to evaluate the success of projects. Responsible for fostering event excellence through planning, execution and consultation.

  • Create and execute detailed project plans and facilitate group meetings and planning sessions to ensure all actions remain in synergy;

  • Serve as the point of contact for routine collecting, processing and sharing information with partners and vendors;

  • Collaborate and manage up and laterally to regional team members, leadership, and external stakeholders to achieve event benchmarks and goals;

  • Routinely provide updates on project progress, milestone targets and deadlines;

  • Perform quality control on projects throughout the development to maintain the standards expected;

  • Lead on logistics and project management for a variety of regional events, including but not limited to:

○ 2-3 alumni facing events;

○ 3-5 annual fundraising events;

○ Quarterly corps members professional developments;

○ Summer pre-service (must be present in-person all of May & June)

  • Work in partnership with regional communications staff on event communications, marketing, and program design.

Operations and Budget (20%)

Operations and budget responsibilities include but are not limited to,

Ensuring seamless and timely execution of all operations tasks. Managing, core operations, budgets and project delivery. Plays a pivotal role in ensuring business efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Annually update handbooks, safety plans and other critical needs documents

  • Routinely review and update individual and team budgets

  • Maintain team calendar, notifications and reminders

  • Create presentations organize and update team documents and trackers

  • Routinely assess office needs and order supplies and request maintenance as needed.

  • Schedule office space for team and community partner events and communicate office and building information and updates to the team

A WEEK IN THE LIFE

Over the course of any week, the Manager, Recruitment & Operations will spend time:

  • Recruiting at college campuses, community and professional events

  • Review project plans and ensure action steps are up to date.

  • Review and update budget tool and other important documents

  • Schedule upcoming recruitment events, order and create recruitment materials

  • Schedule office space for team and community partner events

  • Update team calendars, take meeting notes

YOUR EXPERIENCE

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Experience creating project plans, planning and organizing events.

  • Excellent communication, verbal and written

  • Excellent technology skills specifically excel and databases

  • Work demands:

○ Occasional evening and weekend work required

○ Ability to lift and transport up to 40 pounds

YOUR COMPENSATION

The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary range for this role is $61,300 - $91,900.

New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. This range may be modified in the future.
