WHAT YOU’LL DO
We are seeking a Director, Program Operations who will play a pivotal leadership role in increasing the cultural and professional experience of the Nashville and Chattanooga regional team members. This role will impact the staff experience in many ways by ensuring our recruitment and hiring strategy, regional operations, and financial operations are envisioned, managed and executed effectively and keeping us on a path toward our 2020 vision and goals. A collaborative work ethic is critical in this role as you will be interfacing with the entire regional staff at multiple points throughout the year. The Director, Program Operations will report directly to the Executive Director.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Lead Regional Operations Support (90%)
Create the vision and execute on the strategy for administrative support, office culture, office management, event execution and programmatic support.
Participate in and support Teach For America Nashville-Chattanooga’s team-wide responsibilities and events.
Create and implement a regional budget tracking process and be accountable to ensuring compliance with the organization's wide finance expectations.
Liaise with various national capability departments, such as; Human Assets, Finance, Real Estate, Legal Affairs and more.
Work with the Executive Director to create and develop all staff meeting structure and design to ensure cross departmental efficiencies and promote collaboration.
Collaborate with various regional departments (Program, Recruitment, Development and Executive) to develop and manage regional calendar of events and individual departmental budgets.
Assist statewide communication efforts as needed through social media posts, newsletter distribution and more on a support basis.
Nashville Chattanooga Regional Team Responsibilities (10%)
Participate in regional recruitment, matriculation and selection efforts with the region.
Participate in and complete staff meeting pre-work and attending regional meetings
Support and participate in regional events
Drives own professional development with support from manager and others to include mandatory PD requirements of the region.
Engages in community opportunities that have personal meaning/connection
Understand and effectively communicate Teach For America Nashville Chattanooga’s programmatic initiatives, goals, and impact externally and internally.
A WEEK IN THE LIFE
Over the course of any week as the Director, Operations, you will offer project management and thought partnership to the Nashville and Chattanooga team members and work on currently assigned short cycle projects. You might build a project plan to design and implement an upcoming event, or work to set up the physical space for an event that week. You may coordinate with members of national teams, like the cost center’s finance partner or legal partner, to secure needed information and resources. You will place orders for needed supplies and ensure office systems are operating smoothly. Sometimes you may even lean in and use your talents to support work critical to the broader organization such as participating in Corps Member interviews.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):
At least 5 years of work experience preferred
Experience with leading operations management of large-scale efforts or events, including logistical management, vendor coordination and relationship management, and anticipating stakeholder needs
Track record of creating and executing operational processes and systems that streamline efforts
Previous experience building and leveraging relationships across multiple layers
Previous experience directly or laterally managing others to strong outcomes
Previous experience in cross-functional planning and implementation of philosophy, culture and systems
Bachelor’s degree required
BONUS (preferred qualifications)
Work Demands:
Willingness to work some weekends and evenings to attend or facilitate external or TFA Nashville Chattanooga’s programmatic events.
Ability to travel by car to in-person meetings in various Tennessee cities regularly
Must be willing to work from a Teach For America – Nashville Chattanooga Office in either Nashville or Chattanooga

YOUR COMPENSATION
The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.
$67,500 to $90,300
