WHAT YOU’LL DO
We are looking for an innovative team player who is passionate about developing and retaining new teachers. The ideal candidate is passionate about teacher development and will live out the belief that, even in the first few years in the classroom, teachers have the ability to transform the lives and education of students. You will work alongside an 11 person team serving over 250 classrooms in pre-K centers and K-12 public schools across Kansas City, MO. You will work in partnership with school administration at multiple sites to develop a scope and sequence for development across the year for new teachers and their in-school mentors, prioritizing both individual development and community building to contribute to culture and retention in a way that has a positive impact on students both in the short and long term. The goals for this role include four programmatic outcomes centered on teacher retention, performance, and satisfaction, as well as administrator satisfaction measures.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Accelerate Participant Development and Partner Alignment (50%)
The coaching role will include, but is not limited to,
Establishing rapport quickly with participants and partners in order to build deep and trusting relationships that allow coaching to go deeper faster
Working directly with a cohort of ~35 teachers observing live instruction and executing individual coaching aligned to DESE’s requirements for support for beginning teachers
Meeting bi-weekly with administrators to ensure alignment of support and facilitating regular administrative walk-throughs of Accelerate classrooms
Work in collaboration with the Director, Accelerate and Managing Director, Accelerate to form open and collaborative relationships with schools, ensuring alignment of support between Accelerate and the partner’s vision and strategy
Small Group Development (30%)
Design and facilitate group development sessions according to scope and sequence in alignment with DESE requirements for support for beginning teachers and mentors
Routinely collect, analyze, share, and respond to data regarding the effectiveness of the program
Share updates quarterly on participant satisfaction and student impact with the Managing Director, Accelerate to help inform the direction of programming
Team Collaboration (10%)
Work in close collaboration with the Accelerate team to ensure alignment across multiple partner sites and sustain strong relationships
Fulfill our Mission through Organizational and Regional Priorities (10%)
Participate in all TFA - KC regional staff events and responsibilities including staff meetings, retreats, and corps member selection
A WEEK IN THE LIFE
Over the course of any week, the Manager, Accelerate - K-12 will spend time:
Observing and coaching individual teachers
Meeting and aligning with administrative staff at partner school sites
Reviewing, facilitating, and supporting whole-group development sessions and gathering satisfaction data
Meeting with the D, Accelerate, MD, Accelerate both in check-in conversations and regular observations and feedback cycles
Meeting with the K-12 Accelerate team for skill development, session planning and practice, and community building
YOUR EXPERIENCE
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):
3 - 5 years teaching or instructional coaching experience
Strong track record of student achievement teaching in a K-12 classroom
Reliable transportation within the KCPSS footprint required (in-city travel required daily)

Routine after-school hours required
Occasional evening and weekend work required
Ability to lift and transport up to 30 pounds
BONUS (preferred qualifications)
Experience working directly with new teachers
Experience working within the Kansas City Public Schools footprint
Experience leading adults/facilitating professional development highly preferred
Strong relationships with a variety of teachers and administrators across the KCPSS (Kansas City Public Schools Systems) footprint

YOUR COMPENSATION
The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary range for this role is $61,300-91,900.
New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. This range may be modified in the future.
