WHAT YOU’LL DO
Teach For America Massachusetts seeks a driven leader to serve as the Managing Director, Network Engagement in the Massachusetts region. In this role, you will design, lead, and execute an array of strategies and initiatives to activate our broad and diverse network of incoming corps members and alumni in Massachusetts so that they can find support, camaraderie, and energy in service of our 2030 goal. The Managing Director, Network Engagement will activate our 2600+ person alumni base by providing networking and engagement opportunities, leading a directed regional communications strategy, and maintaining tight, codified systems of data management. The Managing Director, Network Engagement will also compel top leaders to join the Teach For America Massachusetts corps and support their entrance into our broader movement in Massachusetts through connection with our alumni and core communities.
The ideal candidate has deep ties to the region, and a unique ability to draw connections between people and organizations in our network in service of our 2030 goal. Ultimately, the Managing Director, Network Engagement is accountable for recruiting and matriculating a diverse corps and connecting them to our broader movement; alongside this work, they are responsible for connecting our alumni to each other, to our corps, and to the Teach For America movement.
The Managing Director, Network Engagement reports to the Senior Managing Director of Talent in the Massachusetts region.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Alumni Cultivation and Support (40%)
Broaden and deepen relationships with Massachusetts-based Teach For America alumni, connecting them to each other, to opportunities in our region, and to the Teach For America movement
Develop and execute a suite of strategic events and convenings that mobilize our network to the 2030 goal
Partner with alumni volunteer groups to help them achieve their goals throughout the year; specifically, the Alumni Advisory Board and local chapters of The Collective (TFA’s Alumni of Color network) and Prism (TFA’s LGBTQ+ network)
Develop and execute plans for engaging alumni volunteers to support regional team and/or network initiatives
Execute corps member recruitment strategies with independence and a mastery of skills (30%):
Partner with the recruitment team and local partners to identify and cultivate prospects to teach in Massachusetts, with particular attention to prospects who share identities with the students we serve
Inspire prospects and registrants to join our movement by creating immersive, inspiring, and locally rooted journeys that begin at the lead generation stage and continue through nurturing strategies and direct cultivation practices (e.g. events, meetings, etc.)
Develop and execute plans for post-application engagement and events, inspiring candidates to complete their Teach For America interviews and accept their offers to join our movement
Data Management/Research and Analysis (15%)
Utilize data management systems to accurately report alumni data and recruitment, conduct analysis, and make data-based recommendations
Co-lead our annual alumni data collection process with the SMD, Talent
Network Communications/Outreach (10%)
Draft high-quality written communications and respond to alumni inquiries with a high level of customer service
Collaborate with TFAM team members to publish communications to our broader network
Manage our regional social media and website strategy and execution
Organizational & Regional Stewardship (5%)
Support, attend, and/or participate in regional & cross-team activities and campaigns, including staff meetings and events
Participate in org-wide initiatives, including corps member interviews
A WEEK IN THE LIFE
Over the course of any week, the Managing Director, Network Engagement will be:
Leading inspirational events that showcase the power of our TFA Massachusetts network to corps members and alumni: school visits, local summits, alumni dinners, corps member connections
Engaging alumni volunteers to participate in regional events, such as corps member recruitment events, mock interviews with incoming corps members, speakers at local summits, and more
Collaborating with local and national recruiters from across the country to create goals, design strategies, and support the broader recruitment work of Teach For America
Spending the day on a local university campus to support/strengthen recruitment: meeting with prospects, delivering presentations, and/or meeting with key alumni to promote TFA’s regional work as a compelling option for top prospects
In collaboration with the Matriculation Generalist, running virtual and in-person community-building events for our incoming corps members in the spring to bring them into our broader movement
Collecting stories of impact and content to share with our alumni network in upcoming newsletters and social media posts
Analyzing and improving our alumni data quality, an operational requirement to bolstering alumni network engagement
While this may vary week to week, day travel throughout the Massachusetts region is required for this role, as is occasional evening or weekend work. It is also expected that this staff member lives in the Greater Boston region and is able to travel to our Boston office at least weekly.

Strong written and verbal communication: communicates thoughts and ideas clearly and succinctly, often in a way that captures the attention of the intended audience
Possesses exceptional strengths in operating, planning, and execution, and gets energy from the design of key strategies (e.g. virtual events, campus partnerships) to coalesce our network a round our 2030 goal
Displays exceptional attention to detail, along with the ability to manage large volumes of work and juggle multiple projects simultaneously
Always seeks to grow and improve. They reflect on successes/failures, seek feedback, incorporate feedback immediately to improve, ask for the help or resources they need to be successful, and assume personal responsibility
Proactively engages in individual and collective Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) developments, building context, knowledge and skills to inform a personal vision for DEI growth, individual development goals, and aligned action steps
Education
Bachelor’s Degree required
7+ years of professional experience
BONUS (preferred qualifications)
Teach For America corps member experience preferred
Experience living or working in Massachusetts, preferably in the education sector
Talent and recruitment experience preferred

Teach For America Massachusetts launched our teaching corps in 2009 and has since grown into a diverse community of over 200 corps members and 2,600 alumni working each day on behalf of children. We work to achieve systems level change in our five partner cities: Boston, Chelsea, Lawrence, Fall River, and Springfield. Our team operates with nuance and agility as we execute work across the Commonwealth and partner closely with our Program & Development Hubs, alongside other regions and central teams.
YOUR COMPENSATION
The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.
$106,200-159,200; midpoint $132,600
