WHAT YOU’LL DO

Teach for America is re-investing in our Student-Outcomes Strategy that combines multiple approaches to tell the story of our impact on the students we serve. We are looking for a seasoned and dynamic individual to support this work. This is a hybrid role that works with our Program Impact, Learning, and Evaluation team and is deployed to Louisiana. The ideal candidate will be familiar with Teach For America’s current data ecosystem as well as aspects of student-level performance data from the current policies in Louisiana. Specifically, you will work to optimize our use of classroom level outcomes in Louisiana to drive improvements and communicate our impact. The ideal candidate will also excel at building relationships and managing multiple stakeholders with competing priorities. The Louisiana Director, Data Analyst will report directly to the VP, Research and Evaluation.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Data Sharing, Access and Analysis (40%):

Ensuring your local team (South Louisiana and Greater New Orleans) have the appropriate data sharing agreements in place to:

  • Deliver surveys and assessments as required by our corps member and ignite programs (ex: Cultivate Survey)

  • Gain access to LEA and/or SEA academic outcomes to monitor student learning

Work with partners to share and use data in order to drive improvements:

  • Gaining access to academic data from LEAs and/or SEAs

  • Support school leaders and school based coaches on analysis and data action planning.

Perform analysis of student data to drive program improvement and performance monitoring:

  • Support program improvement and performance monitoring through analysis of student data. Support Executive Directors, Managing Directors of Leadership Development, to make meaning of data to drive improvements and communicate externally.

  • Ensure use of data adheres to organizational standards and policies. Support local teams with reporting for grants and funding.

Monitoring 10 Year Goal & Local Team Strategies and Outcomes (20%):

  • Work directly with the Executive director to monitor, plan, and facilitate quarterly progress reviews related to the 10 year goal, strategy and regional priorities.

  • Work with a portfolio of local teams (including but not limited to South Louisiana and Greater New Orleans) to ensure systems are in place to monitor progress towards the 10 year goal.

Codify Learning and Practices (35%):

  • Work alongside the MD of Student outcomes to develop policies and codify learning in all areas of student outcomes (DSAs, student achievement data, 2030 goal, etc.)

  • Provide support and best practices to other regions in the areas of data sharing and data analysis

Learning and Development (5%):

  • Take time for training and professional development to grow and learn as a data practitioner

A WEEK IN THE LIFE

Over the course of any week, the Director, Data Analyst will spend time:

  • Meeting with school, district, and state leaders to secure agreements

  • Collect, organize data, analyze and visualize data for internal and external use

  • Work directly with coaches, program staff, team to interpret data and build shared fluency and action plans for improvement

  • Participate in professional learning communities to share best practices across regions

  • Attend trainings and professional development

  • Codify work, best practices in ways that are accessible to others.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):

  • 3-5 years of work experience, including at least 2 years as a classroom teacher

  • Experience using student data systems

  • Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in data management tools (e.g., excel, PowerBi)

  • Ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders, including experience interacting with district and state education staff

  • Exceptional strategic and critical thinking skills

  • Commitment to racial equity

  • Must live in state of Louisiana

BONUS (preferred qualifications)

  • Advanced degree and/or certification with data or analytical focus preferred

  • Experience working with Local Education Agencies in the area of assessments or student data systems

  • Live in/around Baton Rouge or Greater New Orleans metropolitan areas

YOUR COMPENSATION

The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary range for this role is set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Tier A: 67,500 to 101,100
