Conservation X Labs is the operational lead for the South America Fire Fund, a new philanthropic fund tackling fire across the Amazon, the Pantanal, and the Chiquitania. Fire is the leading cause of tropical primary forest loss, and this is an experiment at the scale of the Amazon Basin.

We’re hiring a Transformative Technology Lead (Senior Program Officer) to drive the Fund’s technology-first agenda. You come at this as a technology person first — deep expertise in AI, sensor platforms, and big data, and the judgment to tell a leapfrog from an incremental step. You’ll scan for breakthrough innovations and evaluate them for deployment, lead the Fund’s data systems and data-flow strategy, manage the grants and contracts that keep the work on schedule, and serve as technical translator between partners like Google and the field teams.

We’re looking for at least 5 years managing technology, innovation, or nature-tech programs, and someone comfortable training a brigade on drones for fire mapping one week and preparing a funder briefing the next. Spanish or Portuguese is a significant plus. Some domestic and international travel.

Reports to the CXL CEO. Based in Washington, DC, Bolivia, Peru, or Brazil. $104,000–$139,000 for DC-based candidates; competitive local rates for Latin America. US staff receive health, dental, and vision insurance and a 401(k) match, uncapped vacation and sick days, and the weekdays between December 25 and January 1 off.
