The Deputy Director drives EngenderHealth’s efforts to strengthen, diversify, and sustain the organization’s funding portfolio through a blend of frontline fundraising, donor engagement, and strategic business development support.

The Deputy Director will manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects while helping lead the organization’s broader business development efforts, including drafting, reviewing, and shaping concept notes, proposals, capacity statements, one-pagers, and other donor-facing materials tailored to current and prospective supporters. The role requires the ability to translate organizational priorities and technical expertise into compelling, donor-responsive messaging and positioning.

Reporting to the Managing Director, Strategic Growth and Engagement, the Deputy Director helps lead and advance EngenderHealth’s fundraising, donor engagement, and strategic positioning efforts across philanthropy and institutional partnerships. The Deputy Director must be a strong writer, skilled communicator, and hands-on fundraiser who can move seamlessly between donor cultivation and stewardship, proposal development and review, donor positioning, and strategic engagement. The Deputy Director oversees coordination of day-to-day operations, workflows, and cross-functional planning across the Strategic Growth and Engagement division, including the business development, philanthropy, and communications functions, tracking progress against priorities and deliverables, and helping to strengthen team systems and collaboration. Given the lean and highly collaborative nature of the team, the Deputy Director must also be comfortable operating in a player-coach capacity and willing to manage both strategic leadership responsibilities and day-to-day execution. The Deputy Director will supervise members of the Strategic Growth and Engagement division while fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and accountable team culture.
