About Legado
Legado is a women-led, global nonprofit working alongside Indigenous Peoples and local communities in some of the world’s most ecologically important places.

Our mission is to support communities to design and implement solutions of their choosing—benefiting people and landscapes alike. We call these outcomes Thriving Futures.

We are driving toward a paradigm shift towards holistic climate justice by putting 360° Community-Led Change at the center: ensuring communities lead, set priorities, and steward their futures—not as project “beneficiaries,” but as architects.

Why This Role Matters
Legado is gaining momentum across geographies and sectors—from conservation to climate justice to Indigenous rights. But momentum only becomes impact when the story is clear, our audiences understand what makes us different, and our brand reflects the boldness of our work.

That’s where this role comes in.

The Marketing & Communications Manager will shape how the world encounters Legado—crafting narratives that honor complexity without losing clarity, bringing community-led solutions to life, and elevating our visibility among funders, partners, and peers.

This role moves between strategy and execution every day. One moment refining a messaging framework for donors; the next drafting a story from field photos; the next orchestrating a digital campaign. If you care about the power of narrative to move resources and change systems, this is for you.

What You’ll Do

  1. Strategy & Voice
    • Contribute to and implement an annual communications plan aligned with organizational priorities
    • Build and maintain Legado’s narrative architecture (core messages, audience positioning, talking points)
    • Ensure communications consistently reflect our values, rigor, and commitment to equity
    • Track opportunities for positioning, visibility, and reach (media, partnerships, sector platforms)
  2. Storytelling & Content Creation
    • Produce high-quality written content across channels: newsletters, blogs, reports, donor updates, web copy, social content, and internal communications
    • Translate complex, nuanced program work into accessible storytelling—without flattening community agency
    • Maintain and improve editorial calendars and workflows that keep content moving on time and to standard
    • Partner with designers to ensure assets are polished, consistent, and on-brand
  3. Brand & Digital Presence
    • Manage and evolve Legado’s website, email marketing, and social media presence
    • Strengthen brand coherence across decks, reports, campaigns, and partner-facing materials
    • Monitor performance analytics and adapt content accordingly
  4. Campaigns & Cross-Team Collaboration
    • Manage integrated campaigns supporting fundraising, partnerships, and strategic milestones
    • Support launches of new reports, partnerships, and program outcomes
    • Work closely with Development, Partnerships, and Program teams to amplify donor and partner communications
