ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Senior Program Associate provides mid-level administrative and technical support for MENA (Middle East & North Africa) programs under the supervision of the MENA Program Officer. The Senior Program Associate will be expected to perform tasks requiring prior experience, education or training.

LOGISTICS

Internews has offices in Washington, DC and London, UK which support a hybrid workforce with staff working remotely, fully in-office, or partially remote. This is a remote-based role, and candidates based anywhere in the United Kingdom or in the Eastern time zone of the United States will be considered.

DAY-TO-DAY TASKS will include:

  • Provide support in ensuring program implementation complies with funder requirements and Internews’ policies and procedures.
  • Lead the compiling of program reporting and monitoring and evaluation, including quarterly reports and other project-related reports for MENA programs.
  • Assist in tracking metrics for monitoring and evaluation.
  • Contribute to recruitment and hiring processes for project and PMU-level roles, including drafting job descriptions, participating in interviews, and working with the Headquarters People & Culture team.
  • Support communication between Internews’ HQ and country program office staff on program implementation.
  • Prepare invoices, wire transfer requests, expense reimbursements, and complete credit card reconciliation on a monthly basis.
  • Lead the implementation of personal service contracts and service contracts and ensure communication with business operations unit regarding same.
  • Support events and partner meetings, including coordinating agendas and travel logistics.
  • This role may have the opportunity to participate in events (e.g., regional gatherings).
  • Communicate regularly with headquarters’ Accounting and Administration teams regarding financial documents, helping to promote compliance with Internews’ policies and donors’ requirements.
  • Assist with project oversight, including progress towards program deliverables.
  • Assist the program team with proposal development as needed and contribute ideas to the team for potential future proposal development.
  • Draft and maintain up-to-date briefing and communications materials for active projects.
  • Support the MENA team in compiling and distributing program updates.
  • Support program team in coordinating with contractors to obtain relevant documentations required to process PSC contracts.
  • Support program team to organize interviews with PSC contractors.
  • Compile, edit, and review relevant reports and other documents for publication.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

Required

  • Relevant university degree OR equivalent lived/professional experience.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience, including prior experience in development projects.
  • Native/bilingual fluency in English, with superior communication skills (written and verbal) and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability.
  • Proven organizational skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize a shifting workload.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Experience managing complex travel arrangements.

Preferred

  • Experience with financial management and familiarity with US Government rules and regulations.
  • Field experience.
  • Experience with proposal development.
  • Experience preparing expense reports and budgets.
  • Experience with event planning and/or arranging logistics for project implementation abroad.
  • Proficiency in English, Arabic is an advantage

This is an hourly, non-exempt position; the range for this position is US $28.08-$35.10 per hour, equivalent to US $58,400 – $73,000 per annum.
