Position Overview
As a Journalism Product Management Intern, you will support the Head of Journalism Products in optimizing our website’s user experience, enhancing content publication processes and supporting projects that drive audience growth and engagement. This 6-month internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in product management fundamentals and understand the role of product thinking in advancing journalism and audience development. The position includes a monthly stipend, and academic credit can be arranged if applicable.

Job Description
Responsibilities:
Product Strategy & User Support:

Participate actively in the product lifecycle, including research, planning, design, development, and testing phases.
Assist in tracking and updating the product roadmap, coordinating timelines, and clearly communicating changes to all stakeholders.
Support data collection on user behavior and engagement to identify opportunities for enhancing user experience and content strategy.
Audience Insights & Engagement:

Help monitor and analyze audience engagement metrics to support data-driven decisions for product improvements initiatives.
Collaborate with the audience engagement team to identify patterns and trends, providing insights that enhance the way we reach and engage with our readers.
Assist in experimenting with new tools and approaches to expand our audience and strengthen engagement.
Content Optimization & Workflow Improvements:

Assist in streamlining content publication processes by identifying bottlenecks and areas for efficiency.
Collaborate with editorial teams to optimize workflows, ensuring seamless collaboration between editorial and product/technical teams.
Help improve the user experience for editors and content producers by contributing to feature enhancements or process changes.
Stakeholder & Developer Coordination:

Serve as a liaison between internal stakeholders and the development team, addressing questions and gathering basic requirements to inform product iterations.
Support the Head of Journalism Products by tracking development progress, coordinating with developers, and ensuring timelines are met.
Person Description
Strong interest in product management, user experience design, and audience engagement, with a passion for improving digital platforms in the journalism space.
Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and remote environment.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a keen interest in user behavior and audience insights to inform product improvements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Familiarity with project management tools like Jira and Confluence is a plus, along with an eagerness to learn new tools and systems.
