Position Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Growth Product Manager to drive audience expansion and membership program growth at OCCRP. This role involves taking ownership of strategic growth initiatives, working closely with cross-functional teams, and ensuring that our content and membership offerings reach and engage the right audiences.
The ideal candidate will be skilled in audience strategy, growth marketing, and product management, with a strong ability to leverage data and insights. You will be managing a small but growing team of analysts and researchers, working to optimize our digital presence and drive sustained growth across our platforms.
Job Description
We’re looking for an innovative and strategic Growth Product Manager with a proven track record in driving audience and membership growth. This role requires excellent analytical skills, creativity, and the ability to collaborate across departments to align growth strategies with OCCRP’s mission of investigative journalism.
Responsibilities:
Developing and executing growth strategies to expand OCCRP’s audience and enhance membership engagement.
Leading the strategic vision and growth of both newsletters and the product offering around membership programs, ensuring they meet and exceed key performance indicators (KPIs).
Managing and mentoring the SEO Analyst and Audience Researcher to optimize content for search engines and leverage audience insights for growth initiatives.
Collaborating with Editorial, JoPro, and Business Development teams to ensure alignment of growth strategies with organizational goals.
Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on audience and membership growth metrics, using data to continuously refine and improve strategies.
Leading the development and enhancement of digital products that drive growth, including newsletters, membership offerings, and new content formats.
Conducting A/B testing, user research, and other experiments to iterate and improve growth tactics and product performance.
Person Description
You are a strategic thinker with a passion for driving audience and membership growth in a mission-driven environment. You excel in data-driven decision-making and have a deep understanding of digital marketing, SEO, and product management. Your technical skills are matched by your ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You are a positive force for innovation and growth, always seeking new ways to expand our reach and deepen our engagement with our audience. You excel at building coalitions across teams, effectively securing buy-in from multiple stakeholders to drive growth initiatives forward.
Technical skills required:
Proven experience (3-5 years) in product management, growth marketing, or a related role, ideally with a focus on audience and membership growth.
Strong analytical skills and experience with data-driven decision-making.
Proficiency in SEO, digital marketing, and analytics tools.
Experience managing or mentoring a small team, with a focus on optimizing team performance.
Familiarity with A/B testing, user research, and other growth optimization techniques.
Soft skills required:
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Passion for investigative journalism and commitment to OCCRP’s mission.
Ability to communicate well in English, both written and spoken.
Desirable experience:
Experience working in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
Experience with membership or subscription-based growth strategies.
Knowledge of content marketing and audience segmentation strategies.
Experience in product development, particularly in digital products related to media or journalism.
