Head of Fundraising

Stop Ecocide International is an international advocacy organisation and NGO with high-level networks and grassroots teams around the world.  We are the driving force at the heart of the growing global momentum towards recognition of ecocide as an international crime, in order to deter, prevent and sanction the worst harms to nature.

We are recruiting an inspiring and experienced fundraiser to work closely with our leadership team to develop, lead and implement our fundraising strategy. With at least 7 years’ experience in successful fundraising and already connected to funders, foundations, family offices and high net worth individuals in the UK, Europe and also the USA, this role will suit will suit a creative and adaptable relationship builder, with a flair for developing compelling proposals to inspire funders to support our amazing team and their important work.

We are looking for a person who is as passionate and enthusiastic about our mission as we are, someone with an understanding of the critical nature of this work in creating the foundational legal framework we need for the protection of all life, and future generations.

 Your duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement, in collaboration with the Leadership Team, a long-term ambitious fundraising strategy, meeting an annual minimum target of £1.5m in unrestricted funds plus specific project financing
  • Manage key relationships with existing donors and grow these to establish a sustainable long-term income stream
  • Identify and cultivate new partnerships with corporates, high net worth individuals, family offices, trusts and foundations, developing a broad network of major donors in the UK, Europe and the USA
  • Generate development materials such as grants, case statements and relevant standalone project proposals
  • Develop a pipeline of opportunities to achieve targets, ensuring that specific funding agreements are aligned with and do not detract from the organisation’s core purpose and activities.
  • Check with key people in the team that operational aspects are in place to guarantee implementation of specific projects to which funding agreements may relate
  • Oversee the administration relating to, and timely delivery of, agreed philanthropic donations and specific project financing
  • Report as required on all activity to the Leadership Team and Board

 

You will need:

  • A proven track record of generating, cultivating, and managing relationships with high-value donors of all kinds to secure multi-year, 7 figure+ income
  • Initiative, drive and commitment.
  • Clear and persuasive writing and oral communication skills
  • Connective, creative and focused thinking skills, enabling you to  relate specific opportunities to the bigger picture and to prioritise and manage multiple fundraising projects accordingly.
  • Confidence, sociability and capacity to work with a wide range of colleagues
  • High level of discretion and tact; ability to maintain confidentiality, gatekeeping where necessary
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with main social media platforms
  • Willingness to occasionally work outside of core hours and at weekends, when necessary
  • A thorough understanding of data protection, fundraising regulations, and best practice.

Salary: £40-£60k FTE depending on experience and hours. This could be a role you do alongside work for other clients.
