Role Summary:

We are looking for an Intern for Communications (Program Communications) to support our team in the Philippines. The Communications Intern at Smile Train Philippines will be immersed in a hands-on learning experience on the various communications activities and initiatives Smile Train undertakes in the country.

The Communications Intern will report to the Communications Manager for Southeast Asia. This internship is role based in the Philippines, starting as soon as possible and will cover 3 months to 1 year. No domestic travel is expected.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Accompany the Communications Manager and/or Program Managers to visit a partner hospital to see first-hand how Smile Train’s work impacts the cleft community.
• Conduct interviews with hospital staff, patients, and their parents to learn about the challenges they face, how they were able to receive help from Smile Train, and how this has affected their lives.
• Create content for social media, using materials and references to be provided by Smile Train
• Write/Re-write patient stories submitted by Smile Train partners to be used in local and international Smile Train collaterals
• Assist in writing grant proposals and reports for donors/possible donors, including conducting research and reviewing available sources
• Assist in events that will take place during the duration of the internship period
• Blog about Smile Train and her internship experience, the content of which must be approved by Smile Train prior to its publication
• Organize an opportunity to present Smile Train to a selected audience

The internship will be done both in-person and online. The Foundation reserves the right to require the intern to perform such other tasks, apart from those enumerated herein, and to transfer or deputize the intern to the Foundation’s various partner organizations.

Essential Selection Criteria

• Currently enrolled or have recently graduated from a relevant degree program (moonlighting) including but not limited to: Social Science, Social Work, Development Communications, and the like.
• Highly proficient in English – both oral communication and technical writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Detailed-oriented with strong organizational skills
• High degree of computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Zoom, etc.), ability to navigate databases and analyze datasets with keen attention to details.

Compensation Range:
The program intern will receive a compensation of Php17,200 per month, inclusive of domestic travel expenses (taxi fares)
