Position Overview
The Associate Communications LATAM supports Smile Train’s external program awareness-related projects. S/he is responsible for supporting Brasil marketing and communications efforts and assists the national team with communication, marketing needs, social media, content collection, events and congress organization, patient and family stewardship, and other engagement activities.

Digital & Social Media
Oversee organization social media channels across Brasil and their content outputs, serves as focal point for digital initiatives and seeks for new and innovative ways to foster community engagement through social media channels.
o Design the Content Strategy for social media in Brasil.
o Produced and published content (written and multimedia): wrote, translated, and edited content for social media, official websites, and email.
o Manage social media presence and content on multiple platforms: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok, YouTube, and others. As well tracked and reported their accomplishment.
o Manage paid media, KPIs analysis, website development, among others.

Communications & Program Awareness
Support national efforts to raise awareness with the general public, health professionals, press, celebrities and others about cleft, Smile Train, and the organization’s work.
o Assist in drafting press strategies to promote Smile Train work by elaborating press releases, key messages, and Q&As for raising awareness.
o Reach out to journalists and celebrities and manage our engagement Ambassador Plan in Brasil
o Organize and facilitate visits for photographers, videographers, PR, or media as requested/needed.
o Identifying, collecting, drafting, and following-up on potential patient or cleft team stories and testimonials.
o In close coordination with headquarters, provide logistical support for content gathering trips and liaise with local cleft teams, patients, and their families

Events and Special Dates
Under the supervision of the Director of Communications, LATAM and in close coordination with national staff, provide logistical and communications support for events (on/offline), organize events online and support on site when required, being responsible for the logistics, marketing, and communications aspects for events such as:
o Celebrations and inaugurations including International Cleft Week, World Smile Day®, and National Cleft Day celebrations.
o Education and training activities either online or offline such as SIMULARE workshops, Comprehensive Cleft Care (CCC) courses, Cleft Leadership Center (CLC) trainings, and more.
o National and regional congresses and cleft communities’ events.

o Visitor programs such as Journey of Smiles and Smile Ambassador or donor

Brand guide
Contribute to ensuring coherence and consistency of brand usage and certify that Smile Train brand and image is used according to brand guidelines in every regional communication piece. Such support may include:
o Assessing and supporting regional premium/asset needs, production, and distribution.
o Developing and overseeing designs, working together with headquarters and regional vendors to generate specific resources as needed for events, campaigns, events, and activities such as banners, flyers, guides, videos, among others.


Campaigns and Awareness Activities
Work together with Communications LATAM team to implement local and global campaigns across Brasil to raise awareness around Smile Train.
o Implement campaigns and productions and serve as local focal point to conduct awareness activities.
o Search for local vendors, promoting process compliance, conducting cost comparisons, and exploring creative, low-cost solutions.
o Drafting agreed upon key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics (in conjunction with Communications Director.
o Supporting results-tracking, compiling data, and providing reports or presentations as requested.

Qualifications & Skills
 3+ years of work experience in communications, marketing, or a related field, including experience in PR, social media and/or event planning.
 Experience working in an NGO, public sector or health related organization is a plus.
 Fluent in English and Portuguese (written and oral). Excellent writing skills is a must. Manage of Spanish is an asset.
 Well versed in Social Media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc).
 Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
