Our Work In Sierra Leone:

Partners In Health (PIH) began supporting the government of Sierra Leone in response to the Ebola epidemic in October 2014. Recognizing the large need for continued investments in the health system after Ebola, PIH is committed to long-term health system strengthening in support of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS), guided by the same principles as our emergency response and our work around the world: public sector accompaniment, integrated and comprehensive services, social justice, nimbleness and flexibility, partnership, community ownership, and evidence-based interventions. In the aftermath of the epidemic, PIH is committed to supporting the delivery of comprehensive health services in Sierra Leone, from the community level to the health center and to referral hospitals.

Position Overview

The Patients Flow Assistant facilitates the movements of patients through the Clinic processes, by directing the flow of patients according to patients chart under the supervision of the clinical leadership.

The Patient Flow Assistant provides continuous care support to all individuals by performing reception and clerical activities and maintaining care center workflow for Staff, Physicians, Patients, and relatives. The Patient Flow Assistant participates in the execution of patient Safety Goals by ensuring patient privacy and accuracy of patient identification, improving effectiveness of communication among care providers, and responding to patients’ emergencies by alerting appropriate clinicians. Actively and consistently demonstrates the mission, vision, values and guiding principles of Partners In Health.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the flow of patient in the Clinic by directing patients from initial waiting area to designated areas in the NCD Clinic (the triage, screening room, consultation room(s) and pharmacy) according to their files.
  • Announce names of patients next from the 3-consultation rooms according to their files strictly.
  • Organize patients seating positions and queues by categories and sequence of arrival at the triage, inside the building on to the pharmacy.
  • Treat patients and files according to their sequence of arrival at all times and be professional.
  • Communicate to patients and relatives clearly about their files movement in terms of next on the line.
  • Assist with patients care by greeting and escorting patients as needed from triage to designated clinical areas.
  • Assist with patient movement especially the physically challenged (on wheels, blind, and the aged.
  • Assist patients with PLUS conditions during clinical days.
  • Ensure there no is patients standing inside the NCD clinic.
  • Promotes and maintains a safe environment.
  • Performs such other duties related to role as may be required by the NCD Clinical Leadership.
  • Collect patient files from the consultation rooms for careful handing over to the M&E Team for entering.
  • Communicate to clinicians and team on situational happenings around the clinic for appropriate action.
  • Be observant and able to monitor patient’s situations for emergency attention.

  • Must have at a minimum, a certificate for Senior Secondary School Education (WASSCE)
