About the Role

As the Burundi Financial Advisory Services (FAS) Associate, you'll enhance financial accountability and strategy, supporting the Country Director in pricing, repayment, and budgeting decisions. You'll work with department heads on budgeting and performance tracking while providing strategic financial insights. Additionally, you'll oversee financial aspects of specific grant finances, ensuring compliance, reporting, and stakeholder engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Planning and Analysis for Burundi: Manage budgets and forecasts, provide leadership updates, conduct strategic analysis, and develop financial models to inform decision-making.
  • Strategic Planning Support to Burundi leadership: Support the Country Director in strategic planning, sustainability initiatives, and financial decision-making by providing recommendations and market insights.
  • Complex Grants Management: Oversee the management of complex grants, ensuring adherence to donor requirements and reporting.
  • Staff Management: Supervise and mentor junior members of the Burundi FAS team, providing guidance on budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes.
  • Grants Reporting and Compliance: Lead the preparation of comprehensive donor budget reports, monitor grant spending versus budget, and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between the finance team, the field team and the fundraising team, providing regular updates on grant progress, compliance, and financial performance.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance our grant tracking systems, databases, and reporting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.

For this role specifically, we are seeking someone with experience in financial grants management and financial data / systems work, and a demonstrated passion for our mission. Candidates who fit the following criteria are encouraged to apply:

  • 4+ years of experience in finance, consulting or advisory
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Expertise in financial grants management, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to perform complex functions and data analysis
  • Proficient in analyzing complex datasets for strategic decision-making
  • Adept communicator, skillfully engaging stakeholders across all organizational levels.
  • Language: English
