R3 Malawi Implementation Contractor
Nexleaf Analytics
Background
Nexleaf Analytics is a nonprofit organization driving the digital transformation of low-resource health systems through innovative, holistic solutions. By integrating real-time sensor technology, smart data tools, and AI-enabled workforce development, Nexleaf empowers health workers to keep critical medical equipment functioning, ensure supplies are delivered, and maintain reliable electricity— saving money and lives.
Nexleaf Analytics is seeking a Malawi-based independent contractor to provide implementation support services for the Rapid Response and Repair (R3) project. R3 is a holistic and country-driven approach to digital transformation of medical equipment management. As an adaptive methodology, R3 defines the processes, protocols, practices, and policies countries need to adopt, implement and operationalize data use and data-driven decision making across all levels of a health system. Co-designed and led by MoHs and country partners from the beginning, R3 prioritizes and reinforces long-term country ownership and sustainability beyond the project lifecycle. The R3 project began in early 2025 and ends in June 2026.
The contractor will work with the project’s two local subcontractor organizations to manage the piloting and implementation of the countrywide scale-up of the R3 prototypes developed in an earlier phase of the project. The R3 prototypes being tested in Malawi include:
- R3 Playbook: A playbook tailored to Malawi’s vaccine cold chain system context, strengthening the enabling environment by institutionalizing programs, policies, protocols, and processes necessary for effective management of immunization cold chain systems.
- Cold Chain Technician (CCT) Mentorship and Supportive Supervision: Enhanced CCT knowledge and practical skills in CCE repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance are crucial to reduce equipment downtime. The CCT mentorship and supportive supervision prototype focuses on hands-on, on-the-job training to build these practical skills, ensuring uninterrupted immunization services with consistently available, safe, and potent vaccines.
- Rapid Response Fund: Mobilizing flexible & dedicated emergency financing to fix urgent cold chain maintenance & repair issues at all levels of the health system.
- Data Review Meetings: Fostering a data-driven culture that uses remote temperature monitoring (RTM) data to inform decision making & to take action to strengthen cold chain management. Standardizing how RTM data is discussed and acted upon at national and sub-national technical meetings is critical for embedding RTM data into routine decision making.
Scope of Work
The contractor will provide services on an independent basis and will determine the manner and means by which the services are performed.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Programs, the contractor will be responsible for:

- Conduct post-mortem reviews to identify learnings and areas for improvement.
Coordinating Operations and Resources:
