Job Summary
Lwala Community Alliance is seeking to employ an experienced and strategic Procurement Manager to lead our procurement operations. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in procurement and supply chain management within the not- for -profit sector, ensuring the efficient and ethical sourcing of goods and services to support our programs and operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and Implement Procurement Strategies
i) Design and execute procurement strategies that align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
ii) Ensure procurement practices are efficient, cost-effective, and compliant with donor requirements and organizational policies.
iii) Managing overall direction, coordination and evaluation of procurement for the organization.
2. Supplier Management
i) Perform all procurement activities including identification, evaluation, pre-qualification, negotiations of supplier agreements, preparation of contracts and tender management
ii) Negotiate contracts and terms to ensure the best value and quality of goods and services.
3. Procurement Operations
i) Oversee the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring timely and accurate procurement of goods and services.
ii) Manage the procurement team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
iii) Identifying areas for improvement to continually drive performance and organization’s objectives.
4. Compliance and Risk Management
i) Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and donor requirements.
ii) Identify and create policies to mitigate procurement-related risks.
5. Budget and Cost Management
i) Develop and manage the procurement budget to align with organizational and donor requirements.
ii) Monitor and report on procurement expenditures, ensuring cost control and financial efficiency.
6. Collaboration and Coordination
i) Work closely with program managers and other departments to understand procurement
Qualifications and Experience Required
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree and relevant professional certification ( CIPS)
- A certified member of a Procurement body and with a registered , valid license
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in procurement and supply chain management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably within the not- for profit sector.
Skills
- Analytical and strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and regulations.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective procurement strategies.
- Proficiency in procurement Microsoft Business Central and Microsoft Office Suite.
