Role overview:
Kiva's Impact Investments team works with investees from all over the world, including lending partners who fundraise on Kiva.org, as well as investees accepting debt financing from funds managed by Kiva’s traditional impact investing arm, Kiva Capital Management. The team is responsible for sourcing, monitoring and managing relationships with investees, onboarding and training new partners, and ensuring that all funding relationships are compliant with relevant policies and aligned with Kiva's social mission and strategic focus. The Impact Investments team includes staff based in the US, Colombia, Kenya, and Thailand, who manage Kiva’s investment relationships in every region of the world. We are looking for a talented and highly motivated professional to join our team.
This Investment Manager role will play a key part in scaling Kiva’s impact by sourcing, developing, and managing debt investments in high-impact social enterprises, with a focus on Latin America. The role involves identifying promising early- and growth-stage businesses, conducting rigorous due diligence, and building strong, trust-based partnerships that advance Kiva’s mission. While regional expertise in Latin America is preferred, this role will also support deals globally and requires the ability to work across diverse geographies and contexts. Beyond onboarding and portfolio management, this person will be a thought partner in shaping the future of the Social Enterprise program—testing new approaches, iterating on our model, and helping us deepen our impact. The ideal candidate brings a strong analytical mindset, a collaborative spirit, and a deep commitment to social impact, alongside a bias for action and comfort operating in ambiguity. This role will be based in Bogotá, Colombia, and will report to the Social Enterprise´s Investment Director.
At this time, we can only consider applicants with authorization to work in Colombia on a permanent, full-time basis; unfortunately, we cannot provide visa sponsorship.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Relationship Management — Develop strong relationships with potential and existing investees. This role requires empathy, diplomacy, and the ability to navigate challenging conversations—including delivering tough feedback or unfavorable decisions—while maintaining respect and partnership.
- Investment Monitoring — In collaboration with team members, monitor assigned Investments (both remotely and in person), including risk, financial performance, social performance, and compliance with Kiva policies and covenants.
- Business Development — Proactively identify, source, and recruit new high-impact social enterprise partners aligned with Kiva’s mission. Build and maintain a robust pipeline of potential investments, screen inbound opportunities efficiently, and ensure timely review to keep the deal flow moving
- Due Diligence — Conduct desk and on-site due diligence (when required) of potential Investments to assess prospects’ financial and social performance. Present potential Investments for approval by the Investment Committee.
- Deal Structuring — Participate in negotiations on Investment terms and conditions with the goal of maximizing impact at scale while ensuring Kiva remains efficient and sustainable.
- Technical and Operational Support — Assist in onboarding new Investees, act as liaison, communicate Kiva policy to these Investees and update Kiva stakeholders on new developments and/or issues.
- Public Representation & Ecosystem Engagement - Serve as a visible representative of Kiva within the impact investing and social enterprise ecosystem. Attend and speak at relevant conferences, build relationships with peer organizations and funders, and stay current on trends shaping the sector. Bring back insights that can inform Kiva’s strategy and positioning.
- Country/Region Expertise — Provide Kiva with expert guidance on local market conditions in key markets where Kiva manages significant Investment volume.
- Documentation — Support drafting and review of transaction documentation of new Investments with the legal department.
- Program & Operational Improvement — Contribute to a culture of innovation by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve tools, and support the Social Enterprise program’s growth and scale.
Preferred qualifications:
- Technical experience with lending/investing in private companies, including financial statement analysis, loan structuring, and portfolio monitoring.
- 5+ years of work experience in Investment Management, Finance, International Business, Economic Development, or related role.
- Full professional fluency in English and Spanish; French fluency is a strong plus.
Experience investing in countries in Latin America.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus.
- Flexible and willing to adjust schedules in order to work across varying time zones.
- Able to travel 20% of the time and to adapt to the various work environments, travel presents.
- Effective while working remotely.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to tailor communications to a wide variety of audiences and stakeholders across multiple cultures.
- Ability to network extensively and manage relationships effectively.
- Ability to manage time well and prioritize across competing tasks.
- Tech savvy. Proficient in office software and adept at learning and using technology platforms.
