We ask Kiva Ambassadors to volunteer about 4 hours per month (for 6 months) supporting Kiva in reaching new audiences and lenders.
Ambassadors spend about 2 hours per month promoting Kiva and about 2 hours per month providing Kiva with feedback about the experience.
What do Kiva Ambassadors do?
As a Kiva Ambassador, you would spend about 2 hours per month promoting Kiva.
(The opportunity lasts a minimum of 6 months with the chance to extend)
You could...
- Contact and speak with groups that are open to hearing more about Kiva's mission, e.g., churches, clubs, community associations, etc.
- Post flyers around your community, e.g., coffee shops, libraries, local farmers markets, artist/craft fairs, etc.
- Host a birthday fundraiser for Kiva
- Start a Kiva club
- …do almost anything you can think of to share Kiva with new potential lenders
As a Kiva Ambassador, you would spend about 30 minutes per week collaborating with other Ambassadors and Kiva Staff
Kiva will provide access to a Slack channel. We ask that you contribute regularly to share your experiences as an Ambassador, including...
- Sharing your successes and learnings
- What's working well
- What could be improved
- What resources are needed for you to be successful as an Ambassador
- How Kiva can better support you as an Ambassador
- ...and anything else related to the Ambassador role
As a Kiva Ambassador, Kiva would...
- Connect you with other volunteers and staff members so that you can share ideas and learn from one another
- Provide you with content/resources needed to share Kiva
- Recognize you with special events, swag, and more
Successful candidates must be:
- Willing to spend about 2 hours per month promoting Kiva by speaking to new audiences for at least 6 months (including performing community outreach)
- Willing to participate in a Slack community with other Ambassadors and Kiva Staff for about 30 minutes per week while serving as a Kiva Ambassador
- Able to attend a 1-hour training on participation in the Ambassador Community (Time: TBD. If you are unable to attend live, we will ask you to watch a recording.)
- Self-motivated and comfortable working remotely
- Able to communicate well and build relationships with people they've never met
Location of the role: Anywhere in the U.S.
Requirements:
- Must be willing to serve as an unpaid volunteer
- Must be at least 18 years of age to apply
- Must reside in and promote Kiva within the United States (due to advertising/promotion regulations)
- Must be willing to sign Kiva’s volunteer agreement including a standard media release
- Must have access to a device where you can download and access Slack
- Highly Recommended: Access to a device that allows presentations or can display the Kiva website.
- You must abide by Kiva’s Community Guidelines. Please note that participation in this program is at-will both for the Ambassador and Kiva.
