The Functional Genomics Center Zurich (FGCZ) is an interdisciplinary research and training center of the University of Zurich and the ETH Zurich. We support life science research with state-of-the-art technologies for genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics as well as by high-end bioinformatics analysis. The successful applicant will be part of the genomics/transcriptomics team that develops and implements latest next generation sequencing (NGS) methods and strategies and provides services and training to the research groups accessing the center.
The position offers an attractive opportunity to step into a growing and rapidly evolving technology field and to join a team of highly motivated professionals. Its a full-tim, fixed-term (1 year) position, starting immediately or upon agreement. Working place is the Functional Genomics Center in Zurich, Switzerland.
Job description
The main task is to contribute to the service laboratory work in next generation sequencing. This includes routine sample quality control, sequencing library preparation, and the operation and maintenance of latest-generation sequencers of the NGS Services.
Profile
- You should have a formal training as laboratory technician, a BSc in Biology, or demonstrate an equivalent qualification.
- You have practical experience in working in a research or diagnostic laboratory.
- You should be highly flexible, organized, possess good interpersonal communication skills and demonstrate an ability to work with research and technical staff in a team-oriented manner.
- Advanced knowledge of English is essential, as this is the working language of the center.
- Candidates should already hold a valid Swiss residency permit.
