Student assistant for support with qualitative interviews - Sustainability & Ethics in Education Initiative

The Strategy and Analytics Team supports the systematic integration of sustainability and ethics into teaching and learning. The team's goal is to enable students to address global challenges such as climate change, resource justice and ethical decision-making competently, and to act as 'change agents for a better tomorrow'. The team works proactively and strategically, using data to inform its decisions, in order to shape the future of education at ETH Zurich.

As a student assistant, you will contribute to embedding sustainability and ethics in teaching and learning at ETH Zurich by providing organisational and content-related support.

Project background

You will support an initiative that promotes sustainability and ethics by suppoting the collection of teaching examples across ETH departments and partner universities (ENHANCE+) through qualitative interviews.

Job description

Assisting the project team with interviews with members of the ETH community (e.g., lecturers, curriculum developers, student organizations). The interviews serve to collect best practices and gain a nuanced picture of the expectations, challenges, and concerns surrounding sustainability and ethics in teaching.

Specifically, you will support ongoing activities in the following areas:

  • Administrative support for the interviews (e.g., scheduling, collection of follow-up materials)
  • Support with transcription and revision of transcripts (transforming interviews into ready-to-use examples for knowledge transfer)
  • Support with literature research to support the development of other teaching offers
  • Support with the organization of workshops to engage the ETH community

Profile

  • You are a Bachelor's or Master's student at a Swiss university
  • You are motivated to contribute to integrating sustainability and ethics into higher education
  • You are a reliable, efficient and independent worker
  • You have a positive 'can-do' attitude and enjoy providing feedback from a student perspective
  • You are proficient in MS Office
  • You have gained experience in qualitative research through student assistant work, seminar papers or theses
  • You have basic knowledge of interview transcription using Nvivo or similar software
  • You communicate confidently and precisely in English, and additional proficiency in German would be beneficial
