NCCR Genesis Communication & Media Officer
60%-80%, Zurich, fixed-term
The Swiss federal government has approved six new National Centres of Competence in Research (NCCRs). These programmes will provide long term strength to key strategic research areas in Switzerland. ETH Zurich heads three of the six approved NCCRs, namely the NCCR “Genesis”, and sees this as a major opportunity for education, top-level research and knowledge transfer to industry and society.
“Genesis” investigates the origin of life as a gradual transition from inanimate matter to living organisms. The centre will be managed in close cooperation with the University of Lausanne (UNIL).
Project background
"Genesis" brings together more than 100 scientists from all parts of the country, bridging the gap between biology, chemistry, astrophysics, and Earth and planetary sciences. The approach here is as follows: the origin of life is understood not as a sudden coincidence, but as a gradual process. The researchers are investigating how planetary conditions allow functional biological systems to form from inanimate building blocks, eventually leading to the emergence of living organisms.
In this versatile position, you will be responsible for the strategic planning and operational implementation of the entire communication for the centre. You will build the bridge between highly complex research and the public. You will work closely with the project management team and coordinate outreach activities between ETH Zurich and the University of Lausanne.
We are looking for a highly motivated talent to start immediately or by agreement.
