Scientific Affairs Manager

The research group led by Professor Valentina Boeva at ETH Zurich is seeking a dedicated Scientific Affairs Manager with a strong scientific background, ideally with experience working in collaboration with biological or clinical labs and with groups with a strong machine learning background. The starting date is by mutual agreement. We expect a pronounced interest in working in an interdisciplinary environment at the interface of machine learning, biology, and medicine.
We offer a one-year contract with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent position.
Job description
In this position, you will support the research leadership with strategic and operational tasks in the scientific context. You will coordinate and oversee scientific projects, particularly in the area of cancer genomics, and act as the central point of contact for clinical and biological partners, especially with regard to data management, ethics applications, and legal frameworks. You will also contribute to the preparation of project proposals, reports, and scientific publications, as well as managing the lab website and social media. Organizing and supporting internal and external meetings, workshops, and events is also part of your responsibilities, as is serving as an interface between research and administration.
Profile
- Completed university degree (PhD) in mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, a natural science, medical, or related field
- Experience in scientific research, ideally in the area of machine learning and/or data science
- Strong organizational skills and an independent, structured working style
- Experience in project management in an academic environment
- Excellent communication skills in both German and English, both written and spoken
- Interest in interdisciplinary work within a dynamic, international team
- Knowledge of regulatory and ethical aspects related to handling patient data is an advantage
- Experience in graphic design (e.g., for journal covers) would be a plus
