We are looking for a Research Engineer to join ongoing and future research projects at the intersection of machine learning, and structural design (e.g. trusses, space frames).
Project background
The work focuses on data-driven generation of structural systems. You will be involved in developing, experimenting with, and evaluating machine learning models that help navigate large design spaces. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys research-driven development, prototyping ideas, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
This position is offered on a fixed-term basis for one year, with the possibility of extension depending on performance and funding. Starting date: March/April 2026
Job description
- Conceptual structural systems (e.g. trusses, space frames)
- Unsupervised machine learning and deep learning methods
- Analysis, visualization, and interpretation of learned design spaces
- Contributing to research outputs (prototypes, publications, open-source code)
Profile
Required skills
- Master’s degree in STEM
- Strong proficiency in Python
- Practical experience with PyTorch
- Solid understanding of unsupervised machine learning and deep learning
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English
Nice to have
- Experience with Graph Neural Networks (GNN)
- Familiarity with PyTorch Geometric (PyG)
- Experience with or interest in Reinforcement Learning
- Background or strong interest in optimization
