The Carvunis Laboratory at the Institute of Molecular Systems Biology is seeking a highly accomplished and collaborative lab manager with extensive research experience to join our team focused on genome evolution and cellular systems biology. The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in lab management, experimental design, molecular biology, yeast genetics, high-throughput cloning and evolutionary biology, and will be responsible for actively participating in interdisciplinary research projects while managing a wet lab and mentoring new and temporary lab members.

Job description
- Manage day-to-day lab operations, including supply ordering and protocol development.
- Development, safety compliance, and coordination of shared resources.
- Mentor and supervise junior researchers, technicians, and undergraduate students.
- Lead independent and collaborative research projects in molecular systems biology, evolutionary genomics, and gene function studies, under PI supervision.
- Design and execute experiments to investigate molecular expression, cellular phenotypes and mechanisms of function of de novo genes.
- Co-author peer-reviewed articles and contribute to writing grant applications.
- Collaborate with internal and external research teams across diverse disciplines.
- Present findings at international conferences and contribute to the scientific community through peer review and committee participation.
Profile
- Master's degree in biotechnology, biochemistry, or related life sciences field.
- 10+ years of hands-on lab research experience, including lab management roles across international institutions.
- Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals. Demonstrated expertise in: - Yeast genetics and molecular biology
- Evolutionary biology
- Genomics and transcriptomics
- High-throughput cloning and screening
 
- Experience mentoring students and technicians, with a strong commitment to training and team building.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments.
- International research background; multilingual and multicultural experience.
- Familiarity with lab sustainability practices
- Engagement with scientific societies.
- Experience organizing and contributing to science workshops.
