Job Summary:

The AMR and IPC Advisor will provide technical leadership on antimicrobial resistance and infection prevention and control activities under the STRIDES Jordan Activity. The position leads the day-to-day implementation of AMR and IPC-related project activities, supports the strengthening of national AMR and IPC systems, and works closely with government counterparts, implementing partners, and the project team to ensure timely and quality delivery of outputs. The Advisor will contribute to capacity building, donor reporting, and workplan development, and will ensure technical implementation is consistent with international best practices and aligned with Jordan's national health priorities.

Accountabilities:

  • Provides technical leadership in AMR and IPC activities in alignment with Jordan's National Action Plan on AMR and relevant national IPC guidelines.
  • Engages with the Ministry of Health and other relevant government entities to support the development and implementation of AMR and IPC strategies, policies, and standards.
  • Supports the strengthening of AMR surveillance systems and IPC practices at the facility and national levels.
  • Maintains ongoing technical dialogue with in-country counterparts, implementing partners, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Contributes to the development of tools, guidelines, and training materials relevant to AMR and IPC in Jordan.
  • Works on problems of moderate to complex scope and demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and approaches for obtaining solutions
  • Leads the day-to-day technical implementation of AMR and IPC activities under the STRIDES Jordan workplan and tracks delivery of outputs against agreed timelines.
  • Ensures technical implementation is consistent with best practices and meets donor contractual obligations.
  • Coordinates with operations and finance teams to ensure activities are implemented within budget and on schedule.
  • May supervise junior technical staff and short-term consultants supporting AMR and IPC activities.
  • Drafts technical progress reports and contributes to all donor reporting requirements.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations on progress to the project team and relevant stakeholders.
  • Contributes to the development and review of annual workplans and technical deliverables.
  • Serves as a primary author for technical deliverables related to AMR and IPC

Applied Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of AMR, IPC, and related public health areas, including familiarity with the Global Action Plan on AMR and WHO IPC core components.
  • Solid understanding of Jordan's public health system, national AMR and IPC landscape, and relevant government structures.
  • Experience working with government counterparts and national health institutions in Jordan or the broader MENA region.
  • Professional proficiency in both Arabic and English, written and verbal, is required.
  • Solid knowledge of standards, operational processes, and procedures in the technical area.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant data management tools.

Supervision Given/Received:

  • Serves as in-country lead for AMR & IPC.
  • May supervise junior level staff members.
  • Reports to the STRIDES Associate Technical Director.

Education:

  • Master's degree or its international equivalent in Public Health, Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, or a related field.
  • Project Management (PM) Certification preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in AMR, IPC, or a related public health field, with a demonstrated track record of designing and implementing AMR and IPC programs.
  • Documented experience leading AMR and IPC activities in Jordan and working with relevant government ministries and partners.
  • Relevant publications, presentations, technical reports, and experience developing guidelines, tools, or manuals in the area of AMR and IPC.
  • Strong proficiency in current developments, methodologies, and best practices in AMR and IPC, including familiarity with the Global Action Plan on AMR and WHO IPC core components.
  • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization, government agency, or private organization operating in the public health or global health security space.
  • Professional proficiency in both Arabic and English, written and verbal, is required
