Senior Technical Officer – Social and Behavior Communications (SBC)

FHI 360 implements the Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project, a five-year global project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). EpiC receives COVID-19 funding to prevent, prepare for, respond to and bolster health systems to address COVID-19 and reduce cases of re-emergence. Currently, EpiC and its consortium members implement COVID-19 activities in more than 60 countries across the world including Papua New Guinea (PNG).

We are currently seeking qualified candidate for the position of: Senior Technical Officer, Social and Behavior Change Communications (SBC)

Basic Responsibility

The Senior Technical Officer, Communications and SBC is responsible for the strategic planning, development and coordination of all marketing communications programs and special events to promote EpiC and other project objectives. This role includes consulting with other management areas and agencies to leverage marketing efforts and produce promotional tools and communication materials for the project. The officer manages the preparation of training aids, oversees advertising and public relations projects, and suggests the best media to promote specific programs or services. They also interact with vendors to produce promotional material and ensure all products align with donor branding and marking.

Additionally, the officer defines marketing objectives and strategies , translating them into communication tactics, including project management, planning, scheduling,and budgeting. They also develop and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Other Duties

  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor or Country Director, including providing strategic support for other projects within the PNG Country Office as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree equivalent, marketing, public relations, communications or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years marketing and public relations experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures with marketing and or advertising strategies and communications
  • Experience developing communications materials and/or tools
  • Strong knowledge of various software and web applications
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to influence, motivate, negotiate, and work well with others
  • Possess strong, analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Prior working experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) is an advantage, however, not necessary
  • Prior experience in Social and Behavior Change Communications in the health field is an advantage
  • Prior experience managing and/or promoting special events is an advantage

Location of Employment:

Country Office, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
