Technical Advisor – Private Sector Engagement (PSE)

The Technical Advisor for Private Sector Engagement (PSE) will provide strategic direction for evidence-informed business development approaches under the USAID Integrated Nutrition program in collaboration with the Technical Director and consortium partners. The Advisor will enhance the capacity of local partners through designing training packages, conducting trainings, and providing coaching and mentoring to field staff. Additionally, the Advisor will leverage learnings from PSE to refine training packages tailored to project requirement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall design and implementation of PSE related interventions and approaches in coordination with the Federal, Provincial and Local governments, private sector actors, stakeholders, and other consortium partners.
  • Work with other program component (nutrition specific and sensitive components) leads within the consortium while developing or introducing PSE interventions which also includes understanding and internalizing the key outputs, interventions and approach of each intermediate results under the USAID Integrated Nutrition.
  • Lead the project’s effort to develop innovative, scalable, affordable and sustainable PSE models to engage private sector actors with the health and nutrition sector.
  • Advise government departments and units on PSE for health and nutrition sector at all levels to leverage their potential in strengthening access, quality and coverage of nutrition and health services.
  • Support the government at all levels as well as facilitate coordination and collaboration with professional councils and associations to support governments to develop private sector specific standard operating procedures, policies, action plan strategies, guidelines and protocols.
  • Work with Health and Nutrition Services Specialists in provinces to organize capacity strengthening efforts for private sector partners and facilitate and manage research and assessments to identify challenges in PSE for health and nutrition services.
  • Lead development/adaptation of supportive supervision, quality improvement and referral systems/approaches and tools for facility-based private sector service providers.
  • Support to develop suitable job aids and social and behavior change communication materials using the digital technology as appropriate
  • Contribute to the preparation of program reports, monthly updates, semiannual report, technical brief and other necessary documents in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Provide support for documentation/publication of the best practices, success stories and lessons learned.
  • Regular mentoring and coaching of local implementing partner staff.
  • Work with health and nutrition services specialists based in provinces to organize training program and capacity strengthening efforts for public/private sector health workers including those at the federal level and Represent FHI 360 in external forums as needed at the federal or provincial level.
  • Ensure the integration of Gender and Inclusive Development principles into nutrition and health services at different levels.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in business administration, marketing business development, management or related field with five to seven years of experience, or a bachelor's degree with over seven years of experience as mentioned above.
  • Experience of working in private sector for at least five years.
  • Experience of working in private sector engagement in health or nutrition sector would be preferred.
  • Experience in leadership in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships and partnerships with consortium partners and major stakeholders.
  • Proactive in managing multiple tasks, managing and working in the virtual work environment, and flexible, adaptive and open to managing time as needed for and demanded by the project and for working with different teams in different time zones as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, coordination and collaboration, team building and management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written English and Nepali including documentation skills.
