The Acumen NY Finance Team is looking for a Finance Grants Senior Associate. They will be responsible for the financial side of the organization’s grants portfolio and to support the relevant teams involved. This position reports to the Head of Program Finance. This role is based in our New York office which operates under a hybrid model, with three days in the office: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

About the Role
Acumen, an international non-profit with seven boutique, entrepreneurial offices across six continents and seven jurisdictions working with philanthropic donations, grants, and investments, requires centralized financial oversight and support. The NY Finance team provides that oversight and support.The primary responsibilities for the Finance Grants Senior Associate role are:

Financial Reporting

  • Act as the main point of contact for financial reporting for portfolio of grants
  • Prepare timely and accurate customized and standard grant reports ensuring restricted funds are used per donor intentions
  • Track and monitor all monthly revenue and expenses on grants assigned
  • Summarize results/raise key issues to the relevant Grants Manager on routine basis/as need arises
  • Coordinate with members of the NY Finance team to ensure grants management-related data is accurately captured in internal systems
  • Provide supporting documentation and prepare adjustments on expenditures and budgets as needed
  • Work with the Grants Managers and Budget Holders to establish solutions to spend down complex grants
  • Assist in tracking and communicating information about new grant opportunities being pursued by Business Development
  • Assist with activities related to fiscal year end and grant close out processes
  • Assist with annual audit and tax compliance by creating supporting schedules
  • Other duties as may be needed or assigned by the Head of Program Finance

Systems Management

  • Work with Grants Senior Associate on timesheet system and process for month end
  • Manage the award setup in NetSuite and Prophix including setting up new grants, projects and activities
  • Liaise with Portfolio Finance to ensure system is updated with new grant codes

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with monitoring grant budgets and expenditures and preparing grant reporting
  • Experience in working with foundation grants in a not-for-profit environment preferred
  • Someone with grant management background, familiar with reading grant contracts or terms, have foundational understanding of budgets
  • Able to provide exceptional communication and customer service skills, plus demonstrate ability to perform in a team environment with excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
  • Excellent organization skills and proactive communicator
  • Excellent excel analytics and modelling skills
  • Commitment to accuracy, attention to detail, and follow–through
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving environment with high degree of patience and flexibility
  • Familiarity with 2 CFR Part 200 (Uniform Guidance) preferred
  • Proficiency with Prophix reporting software preferred
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

The salary range for this role in NY is $60,000 to $70,000 plus a performance-based bonus. This range represents the present low and high end of pay range for this role. Actual compensation will vary based on various factors including but not limited to experience. Acumen has equal pay, so pay is determined through comparison to a cohort of employees in market at the same level of accountability. A full detail of compensation and benefits will be available through the first screening.
