About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee the entire construction of our new Macadamia processing factory. You'll manage the project, from initial site evaluation and planning to final construction and commissioning. You'll report directly to the Director of Market Access and facilitate close collaboration with contractors and consultants. Success means delivering a high-quality facility on time and within budget, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and maintaining relationships with all partners involved.
Responsibilities
- On-Site Representation: Act as the full-time on-site representative throughout the construction phase, ensuring the project is built safely, meets our requirements, and remains within budget.
- Contractor Management: Act as Tupande's representative in engagements with Contractors and Consultants, ensuring compliance with project specifications and timelines.
- Public Relations: Manage relationships with residents and businesses, representing Tupande.
- Daily Operations and Reporting: Oversee and document on-site activities, handle internal financial reporting, and ensure collaboration between all parties involved in the project.
- Problem Solving and Feedback: Provide constructive feedback to Tupande on ways to improve the construction procedure to deliver a high-quality project where best practices are followed.
- Occupational Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with OSHA's act for all site operations and team safety. This includes all 3rd party agents on site. Review the safety protocols set up by the Contractors and consultants, signages, inspections, and reviews.
- Regulatory Approvals: Review all licenses and regulatory approvals, ensuring the site is compliant with all local regulations and flag any non-compliance.

Qualifications
Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Building and Construction, Architecture or relevant field
- Membership of the engineering board
- Experience working with NCA-5 level contractors as lead engineer or support engineer.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction, architecture, or engineering in a role similar to that of a Clerk of Works.
- Experience in factory set-up, quality management processes, machine installation, and setup would be an added advantage.
- Experience in FMCG, warehouse, or food factory construction would be an added advantage.
- Training in Occupational Health and Safety would be an added advantage.
- Experience working on large-scale construction projects, delivering high-quality construction projects.
- English and Kiswahili is required.
